Samsung Galaxy or IPAD

AVPlayer did not play 1080p MKV's properly either.

And i am not going to use Plex as it just transcodes the movies on the fly.
 
To the OP, I'd say it really depends on your personality.

If you like rules, uniformity, a set way of doing things and you're less of a tinkerer, get the iPad.

If, on the other hand, you're a rebel, an anarchist, a libertarian and you like meddling with your gadgets, get the Tab 10.1.

I fall into the second category, and this being a tech forum, I'd guess most here would.

Osama Bin Laden, Che Guevara, OJ Simpson, Mike Tyson, James Dean... these are just some of the people who chose Android over iOS.

Well if you have a PC, you have wifi and you have a phone that can share 3G over wifi then you only need the 16GB wifi version.

Oh so my post hit a nerve? I formed that opinion from my observations, and from having both devices in my household, but of course, as with everything, exceptions exist. Or are you of the opinion that iOS is less restrictive than Android?

And what's so insulting about liking rules? If anything, society frowns on us anarchists :D

Calling it a cliche doesn't make it magically untrue.

Must say the new iOS Jailbreak is a one click app.... very easy! Wish my wife would let me do it on hers....

Wow look, an actual response, finally. Read the comments in that first link as they sum up my sentiments exactly. Easy to jailbreak does not equal easy to customize.

My SU was also dead set against me jailbreaking her iPad but I did it anyway while she was sleeping; she's none the wiser. She did ask what the hell this Clydia thing is on her homescreen :o

Just goes to show if you bait the hook long enough your fish will bite.

Jailbreaking gives instant access to the entire Cydia repository, where there are a dizzying number of customisation tools, some free and some premium. And ALL of them are guaranteed to be compatible with my iPad. Whereas with Android it's a bit of a potluck. And don't get me started on the complete nightmare that is rooting an Android device, if you happen to not have a mainstream model. That way madness lies. My friend is vacillating between leaving his tablet on 2.2.1 or risking bricking the hardware and voiding the warranty just to get ICS. The tablet is easily fast enough but the chipset is so rare that there just aren't any mod tools for it.

All this customisation business is a bit overrated though IMO. I put ICS on my Galaxy S1 and Kindle Fire, added a few widgets... looked around for some more ideas...got bored and couldn't be bothered from that point on. Far more interested in what I can actually DO with the thing.


In any case isn't it a rather pathetic end to society that adding a customised lockscreen to your smartphone is considered anarchic? Sid Vicious would be spinning in his grave.

also enjoyed it at first, but after a while it becomes ehh and often just slows the device down.
I don't have the best phone on the market Samsung GIO but the stock rom was terrible, rooted and installed Cyanomad 9 or whatever it's called for ICS which is much better, why do I need to go out of my why to make my phone better when samsung should of done it for me instead they just releasing updates for the "fancy" expensive line of hardware.
