Just got a news letter from Samsung SA (29.06.2011), advertising the Samsung galaxy s II, is it available yet in SA? :erm:

I contacted them yesterday and accoding to them it's available from next week but it still depends on the SP if they a ready to release the phones next week or make us wait :(

ya i spoke to them they've kept me on their line for a month now as they said its coming 10 june then 16 june then 25 june now its 10 july so i don't know about them
as i hear vodacom has an exclusive timed release and MTN will realease after that so gotta wait and see as thats all the info i could gather so far

Autopage seems to be advertising it: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...or-Galaxy-s2?p=6395251&viewfull=1#post6395251

Just got the latest Autopage cellular pamphlet and they've got the following phones available for order :
  • HTC Desire S R283.35 on MTN Anytime 200
  • HTC Wildfire S R143.35 on MTN Anytime 100
  • HTC Wildfire S R133.35 on CellC Casualchat 100
  • Samsung Galaxy SII R383.35 on CellC Activechat 100
  • Samsung Nexus S R283.35 on Vodacom business Call per minute
  • Samsung Nexus S R323.35 on MTN Anutime 200
  • Sony Ericsson Arc R373.35 on Vodacom Talk 120S

The only thing holding me back is Autopage Cellular . Had bad experiences with them on previous contracts.

thanks for the update damn thats too much not will to pay that amount for a galaxy as i can get others way cheaper damn autopage

Yup, rather pricey indeed. I, personally, would like to stick to the R300 mark, max R350.
RandomGRK had a good suggestion since our SP's are taking their sweet time with both the Sensation & SGS2:
Upgrade now to an iPhone and flog it on Gumtree. I did that and broke even with my Asus Transformer.
Dont get an Android phone though as an upgrade, it wont sell as quick. I sold my iPhone on the second day but just be sure not to open the packaging.
DO IT!!!

EDIT: Big fail on my part... ActiveChat is actually R250pm with 100 free minutes. I thought it was one of those top-ups with R100 :-/ Not so pricey afterall

Good price for a great phone if you live in a good reception area.

tru if the rumour is tru about sgs2 on R380 a month contract i'll taqke the iphone 4 rather as the ace is on R149 contract how can the sgs2 justify a price so high
granted it is an awesome phone but there are better phones coming in august and September

Where do you see that :wtf:
That's a good price for an iPhone. Very seriously considering getting one to sell it off and get the Sensation cash

hi i saw it in the hi fi corp mail shot its at there vodacom counter so u can't really go wrong there as vodacom gives your support
i can forward the mail shot if u want send me a pm

samsung kies pc sync for the phone has already been released on their website under GT-9100 and the user manual is out on that same web site! August se moer, those places releasing the phones in august will loose alot of business!

damn they suppose to be flogging the galaxy 1 but they still on R320 a month now wonder there is no mention of sg2

i heard from a friend that there have been reports on some major dropped calls from cell-c on this phone (something to do with their 900mhz [?] data frequency) ,,, is there any truth to this? i'm primarily on vodacom but i have a cell c sim that i use for 3G internet on my laptop,,so it wouldnt be that much of a big a deal for me..but it would throw in something into the sensation vs gsii war that's going on in my mind...?

The mtn specials for July are out and guess what THE GALAXY S2 IS NOT EVEN MENTIONED!!!!!!!!!!

I am seriously thinking of porting out and going with some other network right now.

Below is the link to the specials. These were posted on the 30th June

MTN is seriously behind the times. I heard an advertisement on the radio just yesterday advertising the SGS as the greatest thing since sliced bread.. Maybe they're trying to get rid of old stock or something. Pretty dodgy on their part since they'd be ripping people off by selling them a year-old phone when they could just wait a few weeks and get the SGSII for a similar price! (disclaimer: maybe, not sure what contract/price they advertised it for or how much SGSII will go for!)

ya i see as i heard over the weekend my friend was in a virgin store and the phone was available so whats up with cell c and and the rest as i'm not too sure about virgin as a SP = anyone know better?
