Samsung Galaxy S

I just phoned Smasung SA Again , The guy i spoke to said he had confirmed with his Manager , Which Confirmed that we will not be recieving the device . He also ask again to make sure.
So Guy's I have done all i can to try find out , Does anyone else have any more information or better sources.

They said that if we are lucky it "Might" Come here , But it wont be anytime soon.He also mentioned that even though there might be handsets here , They will not be supported and Warrenty will not be applicable. So they guy's importing them from expansys will have no local support on the device.

So I hope to be proved wrong , Because i'm really looking forward to this device , And i'm due for an upgrade and my pocket's buring , The other option might then be the Desire from HTC.

That's quite odd as I know for sure that the phone will be launched in SA at the end of July. I have a very reliable source. Who at Samsung did you speak to; got a name?

I know that you can buy it from there , But they only stock the 8gig , And besides , whats the point of getting it if you wont have a warrenty or ANY local support for it at all , As they at samsung told me. He said that they dont have tech's to repair the device , nor do they have spare parts.

I didn't say buy it from there, I prefer buying from a place like Makro / Game etc.
If I could find one that had the Wave, I'd buy it there.

The Vodaom shops are selling the Samsung Jet for an amazing R6100. :)
frikkin amazing.

I was also looking forward to the Galaxy S but the big negative for me is no camera flash so might look at something else.

Not all network operators will have the phone when it's launched, just like with any other phone, but at least one of them will. Now we play the waiting game...

What about the Galaxy S Pro? It has a slide-out keyboard, and in the US it's called the "Epic 4G".
Looks awesome: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/29/samsung-epic-4g-preview/

Why don't more touch screen phones have slide-out keyboards? Typing on a touch screen is a bit of a pain, especially when you're half drunk trying to take down a hot girls name and number...

We don't have ev-do in SA, so you'll never see this phone and if you're half drunk the hot girl probably isn't giving you the right number anyway.
Well surely a 3G version is possible? I don't want another touch screen without a keyboard.

Haha good point :p But even after only a few drinks I find typing on that touchscreen gets difficult. I also like being able to type without looking at the phone, like I can (kinda) do with my PC keyboard.

The Motorola milestone is the only one I know of. I'm sure HTC will launch a few soon. There's also a blackberry slider with keyboard and touchscreen due in SA before the end of the year.

The guy at the samsung shop in Canal walk / Cape Town, says, the galaxy and wave will be there in mid-July.

Galaxy will be around R7500.

How can it be that much? It costs 450 Euros in Europe, about R4500!!! Expansys has an import for about 7800

The 2 Vodacom shops I asked wanted R6400 for a Samsumg Jet.

Well, my iPhone 3G got a makeover with iOS4, so I can wait a bit longer for my Samsung Galaxy S. ;)
