So what 4.4 ROM should I be using on my S2? Recommend me the best one in your opinion.

CM11 nightlies. I am honestly in love with this ROM.

There are no stable builds of CM11 yet.

Been sitting with Slimbean for too long now and all this talk by zoidberg got me convinced to update .

Backup up all apps with titanium backuo (free version)
Installed new rom and gapps (via CWM)

Rebooted and all seems good so far. Installed nova launcher again and busy restoring apps right now.

Does anyone know of places locally (in cpt) that can replace the plastic edge around the screen? There's replacement kits available online but it seems like a bit of a mission to get the screen out (having to heat up the glue and stuff).

Unfortunately not. I wouldn't mind doing this myself, there are a few dings and cracks on mine too:

So there's this problem where the media player freezes up at random during playback (when reading music from sd card). Seems to be common across most kitkat roms and it's hella annoying as the only fix is to reboot the device. Anyone else noticed this with their kitkat roms? Tbh there's not much that's new about kitkat that's got me excited...almost tempted to roll back to a stable rom again. I would like to try the new ART runtime though but although it's available in the CM11 nightlies afaik I'd rather wait a few months for better implementation and app support.

Installed sentinal rom. Battery life is reportedly amazing so gonna give it a run this week and see how it performs. And my media player not crashing is gonna be awesome .

My S2 started doing something funny. The original battery was starting to fatten up, and draining quickly, so I replaced it with a original Samsung 1650mah battery. Since the new battery has been installed the phone gets to between 30-20% charge when it suddenly dies, mostly whilst it is doing nothing. When I see it happen it is as if the screen has this flickering (dimming) and then the phone goes off. It does not turn on and when I connect it to the charger, it shows as 0%. I wait till it shows about 1-2% before turning it on, after which it shows 30% or so battery.

Thinking it might be the new battery I swapped a mate for his, still original, battery and it does the same. My new battery in his phone works as normal.

Lost of bitching about battery life for latest RR (Resurrection_Remix_KK_v5.1.5-20140609-i9100.zip). Is this the one to take for now?
