Lol, something is not right there. Might be a hardware issue.
I think I might have been sold a fake Samsung battery. Found a video where it shows that if you slightly pull away the sticker around the battery, fake ones are shiny silver underneath and not the same grey. The fat battery is grey underneath it's sticker, the one I have now is silver..

Anywhere I can get a genuine battery for my S2? Either a regular 1650mah one of the 2000mah extended would do fine.

I actually wouldn't mind buying a brand new S2 tbh. If I could get one, un-used and in the box for a reasonably cheap price I'd happily buy it rather than spending whatever it's gonna cost to get a new (decent) phone. My SII is still more than adequate for the tasks I require of it (music, gps, whatsapp, browsing).

Are we talking about the I9100?
I was, yeah :). Been looking at a few other phones (oppo Find 7 and the ONEPLUS ONE) but they're so big in size compared to the SII that it's a bit off-putting.

Got my Zest today.

Played with it for about 10 minutes and I'm seriously considering replacing the S2 with it as a daily driver if I can get CyanogenMOD installed or have it permanently rooted. The camera can't compare to that of the S2 though and it does feel a bit cheap.

Good luck getting it rooted. See the other threads on myBB for details - but in essence, there is a file that gets overwritten on boot preventing root/recovery. The Zest team are looking at a way to allow root, but until then...

Current 4.1.2
Baseband I9100XXMS2
Kernel 3.0.31
Build: JZ054K.I9100XWLSS

Edit : Sorted CWM needed an update.

So my S2 is filling up :(

Long ago ditched FB and FB messenger (FB was spamming me with irrelevant crap anyway) and it worked for a few months but now the fullness is back. Makes it so my Gmail doesn't report new mails and my Whatsapp is slow to notify. Use all of the few apps on there.
How do I fix?

This worked for me:

Galaxy S2 – Clearing Logs on an Unrooted Phone
15 Replies

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 using an unrooted stock ROM. Lately, I couldn’t update any of my apps, or install new ones as every time I tried it would complain about Insufficient storage available. This was weird, as according to my phone the apps took less than 600MB and still I barely 200MB of free space in my device memory.
SysDump

SysDump

The culprit turns out to be accumulation of various crash-dumps and logs. Apparently in a rooted phone you can delete everything in /data/log, but on an unrooted phone, that folder will appear empty. Luckily there is another way to clear the logs which doesn’t require root access, but it’s kind of hidden: You need to dial *#9900# which will open the SysDump utility. Here you can select Delete dumpstate/logcat which will free up the internal storage from all those logs.
