I have decided to put my Note 2 back in its box and use my S2 until the Samsung Kitkat ROM is available for the Note 2.

All I can say is WOW!! The S2 is still a very capable and beautiful phone.

Enjoying every moment with this fantastic phone again!

*And I can use my phone one handedly again.

So my son dropped his/my SII (sob). Where can I get the screen looked at/replaced here in Joeys? It's out of warranty, so it's on my head. The screen itself is cracked, but the touch layer still works perfectly fine. In fact, if I needed to, I could stick on a protector to smooth the feel out and carry on...

I'd be very surprised if an S2 was still in warranty (mine is, for another 20 days).

Try BerryFix (google 'em)

You be damn evil!!
I took out the S2 last night to update - got the newest NeatRom lite on it and Apollo kernel. And now busy with Xposed ... I love this phone ... idiot proof and so easy to flash

I'm still thinking how cool it would have been if Samsung brought out an official KitKat ROM for it.

They did .. .they just didn't know they did ... It is called Ressurection Remix and Cyanogenmod

But I completely agree with you

My S2 is getting slow and unresponsive :(

OMG, I might need to root it...

Are you sure it's not perhaps your SD card?

Your phone storage full as well?

Make some space!

Last resort is to start fresh....do a nice factory reset. ;)

*just copy your whole WhatsApp folder to your SD card and back to the phone once you've done the factory reset & all your messages will still be there.

Mine is still running okayish. Really need to upgrade the battery though and one other issue I have is insufficient storage issue when apps want to update - have moved most apps to external storage but still have the problem.

Not rooted at the moment - haven't been for more than a year now and stock is doing just fine.

All the Samsung apps are disabled on my S2 - it flies!!

Interesting - I've always just ignored it. Will have a look to disable it.

I'm also planning on doing a full factory restore as soon as Telkom installs my ADSL next week.

My S2 still works beautifully with my extended battery.

Am opting to got to a SIM only contract for cheap as I have no need at all for a new phone. Sure bragging rights and a new toy is always nice, but when you just graduated and have responsibilities - cutting the fat is a must.

Besides, I still get those people asking me, "wow which phone is that? it looks awesome" :D

EDIT: needless to say I am rooted and fully custom "under the hood". I actually like Touchwizz and use S Planner quite a lot.

All valid points! :)

You can get fantastic sim only contracts, but you need to shop around.
