Is it possible to replace the square lens cover on the camera? That piece of plastic you see when you look at the rear camera - the piece that has all the scratches on and makes the photos look terrible. Everything is fine with the phone - but it's hardly worth using the camera any more as the quality is now so bad from all those marks & scratches.

Yeah it is currently on my S2. Had to make some tweaks to app-permissions to prevent it from keeping the phone awake (pretty cool that you can set that, amongst other things) and so far so good! Battery life about the same on standby as the stock 4.1.2 but screen-on time seems to slurp it; i think it is because I use the circle-percentage battery indicator as opposed to the standard icon so drainage visibility is more indicative.
 
So I found a way to making typing on my phone less painful...

I enter the cpu clock settings and set the phone to performance mode. I can type much much faster now it's actually amazing lol

As you know the phone default is set to "on demand" and I find that it's just not fast enough when I type. So the max is 1200mhz and I've set it to stay on that. Even if I drop it one step to 1000 then I can feel the difference

You wanna tell me that you have been underclocking the CPUs all this time?

The default was on_demand mode which just uses as and when it needs it. Kinda like a desktop pc or laptop

Problem is that the default speed when typing is obviously too slow... For me anyway

Went with this suggestion last night and Im happy with the results. Not over-joyed, but I can live with the lag I guess. That said, its definitely a lot less than what it was...

What are you running now vs what you were running & how is your battery life?

I've upgraded to 4.1.2 and my phone is now much slower and the battery lasts half a day. Even when not in use, the battery drains after I replaced it with a new one.

I had to upgade though as the previous (stock) firmware got to the point where the phone would freeze up once a day and I had to do a hard system reboot (not just power off) to get it back up and running.


What should I flash it to?

This is weird (lag). My S2 never lag with normal usage and went faster when I upgraded to 4.1.2 a year ago. It's now running a nightly version of Cyanogenmod 11, 4.4.2.

I think you need to manage the apps better. Remove what you don't need and disable what you can't uninstall. IMO.

So i have been running Resurrection Remix ROM for Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 for a week now and its really smooth & glitch free. Its now my daily driver & is really stable. Noticed better battery life after changing from the last version of CyanogenMod stable

Now a happy droider :)
