I want to upgrade to ICS from Gingerbread. I have been putting this of but it is now the time.

I see that JKay has the following for ICS:
JKay Deluxe framework files v14.0:
XWLPG, XWLPF, XWLPD, XWLP7, XXLPS

Which one of the above pda version do you suggest I upgrade to? (LPS?)

Thanks for the help. :)

Normally the last one is the one to flash. I currently use LPD, but there is no harm in trying LPF or LPG. You can always try another one if you don't like the one you flashed

I am messing around with CM9 on my second rom. Where is the weather app? Can someone give a link or some advice please. My preference would be stock accuweather but transparent.

EDIT: Okay, I am sorted with BW

Ok, so I upgraded to XWLPD and everything is running smoothly except...

When I go into contacts and select contacts to display and then custom view and then set it up to just show starred contacts in gmail, it would then just show the starred contacts. But as soon as I close contacts and go back in, it shows all the contacts again, not only the starred which I had just selected.

Is it just me? Anyone else?

EDIT: It seems to be a bug http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606829

Anyone got ad hoc or connectify working successfully with any of the ics roms?

In your opinion, why is MIUI so good?
There are many tweaks and power features cooked into the ROM. Rooting is as simple as flicking a switch. Updates are available OTA - although to be honest they still want you to download the entire ~210MB ROM :erm:. Luckily this only happens over Wi-Fi.
Biult-in apps such as Monitor, Guard (block calls and SMS), Gallery (much better than Vanilla and Stock), Music Player, Recorder, File Explorer, Backup (including Messages), Compass and Torch (Long press home button in Lockscreen switches it on - brilliant!). I know that these are probably all in the Play Store, but it's nice having it all right there. Oh, and the built-in Messages app includes a pop-up function that I had to install GO SMS Pro for before now.
I like the themes, and the absolute control you have over said themes. Pick font from one, icons from another, lockscreen from still another...
The Notifications area is super-functional, with every toggle you could want out of the box. Hide what you want, use the rest - and a long tap takes you to the relevant settings page!
Power off gives you 4 options off the bat, including Reboot and screenshot (optional).

BLN is implemented, as are little things like Long-pressing back button to kill an app. More in Settings.

All said, it's stable, has all the features I need (I've replaced the Music app with Songbird and browser with Chrome, but Contacts is great - much better than Stock), and I like the launcher (I use an iPad, and was putting all my apps on the homescreen anyway :D).

So yeah, it works for me. It's certainly worth installing at least once. ;)

Ok, I'm gonna be flamed senseless now, but, to me, MIUI icons and interface looks butt-ugly.

I'd rather put on Motoblur before I use that. ;)

Agreed - this has been answered though - there are hundreds of themes out there - and you can mix and match as well...

Im currently on stock ICS LP7, if i install MIUI will it wipe the phone?
The only thing holding me back is the thought of losing all my settings, apps, messages etc

Also, i installed the Siyah kernel last night and without even changing any settings i'm seeing a HUGE increase in battery life! :D

All using Siyah - the latest Siyah 3.2.8.2 is up for download. This will probably be some of the last of Siyah kernel development for the S2 as GM is getting his S3 today.

@ linkenpark - the one you downloaded last night is reportedly giving bootloops and FC's under certain circumstances. You might want to look into flashing today's latest.

EDIT: Don't flash 3.2.8.x yet - too many issues

I used 3.2.7.2 from the 29th of May

Apparently the FC and bootloop issue was with 3.2.8, so i'll stick with 3.2.7.2 for now, no issues so far.

Eish, what issues? I just updated to 3.2.8.2, can I just flash an old version again?

I had 3.2.7.2 - no problems
Then flashed 3.2.8 - no problems
Then heard about FC's and bootloops, but I didn't have any issues
Reverted to 3.2.7.2 to be safe ... and ...
All hell broke loose! Got FC's. Reset EXTweaks ... not resolved.
Currently restoring an old backup

Reading more on XDA, it seems 3.2.8.2 is fine. So sit it out and see what happens. Don't change just yet. I just shouted for those who have not updated to wait a bit until we know from others that 3.2.8.2 is stable.

EDIT: Discover the wonderful world of regular nand backups! (although I have to go back as far as 22 MAy ... )

Thanks, I'll just see what happens. Haven't noticed anything yet, although I literally updated 1 hour ago. I went back to CM9 from Resurrection Remix, I am so sure that RR has worse battery life than stock even. I'm going to try CM9 with ExTweaks and Siyah now, will report!

Edit: Oh and, I can just reflash an older version of Siyah right?

Yes you can, but from what I read, 3.2.8.2 is fine. If I were you, I would have waited seeing all is going well for you now. But, it remains your choice. Which kernel are you going to revert to (if you are)?

I'm going to keep 3.2.8.2 for now. If I notice any issues I'll probably flash 3.2.7.2

Okay ... I am back on track ... I will also test 3.2.8.2 and if I find issues I will post it as soon as possible. So far so good ...
