There is one extended battery (2000 mAh) with black cover at Dion Wired, Tyger Valley, for R400. Saw it today.

And there are a few S2 car navigation brackets going for R300.

Does anyone know where i can still get an extended battery ??? :(

Ok so I flashed the latest JellyBAM and then SiyahKernel S2-v5.0.1. Last night my battery was at ~65% and then after a restart it dropped to 14%. After some charging it jumped to ~40% after a restart I also noticed my S2 was a bit hot but this seemed to disappear. So I went to sleep, seemed to use about 20% in standby for 7hrs with wifi on. Today, I realised that it was getting hot again. Dunno if I should flash another kernel or just flash another ROM. I was a fan of CM as I used CM9 for many months but I noticed that there are no stable releases for CM10.1 but maybe I should give it a go. Perhaps my kernel/ROM combo just doesn't work well together...

Most likely a kernel issue with the overheating, I also had a similar issue once.

I would highly recommend cm10.1, even the nightlies are pretty damn stable. I do a ota every 2 days or so to the new nightly and only once had a bit of a sluggish one. It really is an excellent rom.

Hmmm... I think I'm gonna give it a bash, like I mentioned I really liked CM9. What kernel are you using with the CM10.1?

This is a fallacy, all non-Samsung JB 4.2.x custom ROMs for the i9100 are based on the CM team's low-level driver/OS implementation of Google's AOSP Android 4.2.X (check out the credits for other ROMs). Other 4.2.2 custom ROM builds just customize and add on to CM base.

So if the CM10.1 base is not deemded stable, then by definition no other ROM based on it could be deemed stable (no matter what is claimed). It is unlikely the CM10.1 base will ever be deemded stable due to some perquisite code like device drivers. Many of them e.g. Mali GPU are reverse engineered evolutions from previous versions of Android when Samsung was more accommodating and released their source code.

These days Samsung only releases source code they are obliged to (Google based e.g. kernel). They are not obliged to release code they build from the ground up, like drivers, and they don't.

I would say if you want the slickest implementation of Google 4.2.2 Android for the S2, just go with CM10.1. It preserves the original Nexus (Holo) look & feel but adds the ability to customise/re-arrange the UI to your preferences. And it gets updated (debugged further) every day. Also just use the stock CM kernel thats bundled, I've found no benefit in going with other kernels e.g. Siyah, Dorimanx.

Oh I see, makes sense now. Never new others built on the CM base. Thanks for clearing this up. Almost done downloading it then I'll flash it :D

I recommend you do a proper wipe beforehand. Easiest is to use GS2ROMNuke which thoroughly obliterates all legacy configs/files from the system flash. Also dont restore any apps, re-download all and setup from scratch.

OK so I tried to flash CM10.1 but it failed.... Now I can't boot, can still get into my OS I have wiped it... Can still get into recovery and download mode.... Any hints on what to do? Also my battery was only about 50%. Can I pull the battery? because my phone just tries to boot up even if I try switch it off. Wanna try save battery for the procedure.

Wish I saw this beforehand. Can I still use it?

Or maybe can I just flash JellyBAM again from Odin? Can't access my external card now :(

Just a bit worried about the battery

Can still get into recovery
Hold [Vol Up]+[Home]+[Pwr] buttons until phone reboots (i9100 splash screen).

EDIT: OK re-read, does your recovery have an option to mount USB?

EDIT2: If not, Philz kernels have the best USB mount function. Download the Odin flashable version here. Boot into Philz recovery, mount filesystems over USB, copy (1) GS2ROMNuke (2) CM10.1 (3) gapps .zips onto phone, then install (in sequence).

BTW CM10.1 install will overwrite the Philz kernel with its own (you'll just use it temporarily).

Thanks for all the help and info in this thread guys but I have a new S4 and will be checking that thread.

Keep it plugged in while flashing.
