How MUCH is a Neo Hybrid case including shipping etc in South African Rand??
 
R240 but i would advice you against using the United States Postal Service First class mail. You will wait 2 weeks or more before getting the item.

So what do you advise? I've never done this before. Was planning on ordering from SGP right. Do I have to create an account with them as well or only Paypal?
 
Only paypal well you can buy as a guest . If you not in a hurry for the case you can use the us postal , its the affordable one.

A few pages ago I posted how I backed up Drive and Walk using Titanium backup and restored it onto the new ROM. It worked as well.

Here is my battery after a full cycle at 1%. This cycle ran fully with KG2. Quite an improvement but its hard to say because I didn't use my phone as much for those 2 days but I have noticed overall battery improvements.

BTW Trail X is awesome

Wow, that is really awesome. I can't wait to flash KG2 tomorrow. I must just remember to calibrate my battery. :)

Ok ok, I took the bait and just place an order for a Neo Hybrid case. They dont have a black one so I took a silver one.
I used PayPal - have always used this linked to my FNB account. Now the wait starts.

Just got mine yesterday from Fourways mall - been following this thread for a while though. Thanks to all who posted with their experiences, you make this phone more valuable ;-)

I charged the phone fully and then considered starting to set it up to taste while I waited for a Jig order, but just couldn't wait and didn't want, so went ahead with root and VillianROM flash. I wouldn't have been brave enough if it wasn't for this thread with so many of you flashing, the option of driving to Pretoria and purchasing the resistors to build a quick jig if things went wrong (never knew where to buy such things) and reading the tutorials and downloading the software to prepare well.

I followed the XDA tutorial here, I'm a newbie, but I'm sure there are other newbies to flashing phones too and hope this helps - it worked for me (pretty much a repeat of the tutorial in different words and with links a bit more handy):

Step 0: Before I Started

  • I read the tutorial through and downloaded all the needed files in folders named Step 1, Step 2, etc.

Step 1 - Flashing CF-Root


Step 2 - VillainROM

  • I didn't worry about losing data on the phone, as all my contacts were already Google Contacts and the phone was new.
  • I got the newest VillianROM from here. Currently the newest is VillainROM-2.1-signed.zip.
  • I copied VillainROM-2.1-signed.zip to the SD Card (plugged in the phone and copied it in explorer).
  • I unplugged and powered off the phone.
  • I powered on the phone in ClockWorkMod (CWM) mode (while off, hold these buttons together, pressing them in order: volume up, home, power.)
    In CWM mode, use volume up/down for up/down, home for select and power for cancel or back.
  • I selected "backup and restore" -> "Backup"
  • I selected "wipe data/factory reset" and confirmed
  • I selected "wipe cache partition" and confirmed
  • I selected "install zip from sdcard" -> "choose zip from sdcard" -> "external_sd/" -> "VillainROM-2.1-signed.zip"
  • I selected "reboot system now"
  • Something evil, red and green was born in my palm.

Step 3 - Updating CF-Root Kernel

  • On the VillianROM page, I saw that the current version of it (2.1) is based on KG2, so I downloaded CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.zip.
  • And that the newest VillainTweaks is (v.1.3.1) which I also downloaded.
  • I copied CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.zip and SGS2-v1.3.1.apk to the SD Card (plugged in the phone and copied it in explorer).
  • I went to Applications -> My Files -> external_sd -> SGS2-v1.3.1.apk, set to allow unsigned apps, and installed the VillianTweaks.
  • Here I had a bit of a problem that led to me having to redo step 2. I was now supposed to run the CWM app, but when I did, I was distracted and when asked if I want it to have root privileges I declined where I should have granted them. So heads up:
  • I went to Applications -> CWM -> Flash kernel -> external_hd -> CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.zip then rebooted.
  • That was it for me. I tried step 4, but it did nothing for me.

Took less than an hour (also less than writing this post) ;-)
 
Anyone tried litening rom 3.1? it looks quite good and there is lots of support for it on xda. Gonna attempt the flash tomorrow.

I'm having issues with the site. Keeps on saying that the billing information does not match the card info?
 
Mucking around with launcher pro and it's kiff but TW is faster! Should we be thinking about starting a few more specific topics, this one is beginning difficult too browse thru...

Yep, thanks. Just tried it and it worked. Now for the wait. I chose the priority mail option. How long does it take?
