Sorry for the noob question. I already have siyah 3.3.2 on my S2 so when I update the kernel I don't need to wipe anything right?

I know about the SMSC problem, but I was under the impression that relates to a data connection; I actually mean I lose a complete voice and data connection, but it reconnects after a short while, which seemed different to me. On AOKP Res. Remix I had to do the SMSC edit thing a few times :(

Anyhoo, I find that the phone loses its voice and data connection less and less (only every few days, for a few minutes at a time), as though the ROM is 'learning'...but I just ran through the Matrix trilogy yesterday, so that may explain my thinking :P

Otherwise the ROM is really stable and quick IMO, and if I had to convert newbs/noobs (not completely unlike myself), I would suggest the latest stable Cyanogenmod ROM.

Is there something like the perfect custom ROM? Or just stable?

I've messed around with Cyanogenmod, but not happy that I had to forsake my superb radio app.

Seems like it's always a trade-off and the reason I'm sticking with official Samsung ROMs. :erm:

Same here. I test roms, but find myself always back to stock. Themed with jkay and ics domination

Go on www.samfirmware.com, register (takes a few seconds), then click on Firmwares > Smartphone > Android > GT-I9100.

Then on the right, Region > Africa > South Africa*.

*I would suggest you download the non-branded firmware for South Africa, CSC code XFA, otherwise you'll get Vodacom's logo when the phone starts, instead of the uber-sexy S2 logo. ;)
 
im most likely being doff here,

but please help :)

i downloaded the stock firmware for my phone ( tar.md5 file) i have odin, but now what ,the guides the they have on the samfirmware site seems vauge to me,
