Samsung Galaxy S23

Samsung Pay, I can use card payments everywhere, but how does loyalty cards work?

I can add loyalty cards, but for some reason not a single store can scan them or use them with NFT from my device.

What am I missing? How do they work?

Stop boycotting places. Clicks and Dischem can scan them. Checkers you read them the last 8 digits. Etc. etc.

becuse we are a backwards country without POS systems that allow one to scan from a phone,
overseas they assume we run after Antelope and there are no roads, and fight Lions to get to work.

So, loyalty cards basically do not work on the devices as yet. This is what I thought yesterday. I have been at Checkers, Spar and Dis-Chem just yesterday. Payments working fine, but loyalty cards not at all. Not with barcode scanners at any of these stores and also not with QR codes. They need the actual loyalty card or you reading them the code.

Yes like I said.

I think this is actually a Samsung f**kup and system not working as it should as yet.

wouldn't blame Samsung, as had the same with phones from Oneplus, Injoo, Wileyfox and a few other android models
even Iphone, our POS systems are just cast offs for a 3rd world hellhole
that I'm surprised they even register a transaction properly.

Dischem should work. Perhaps try Google wallet.

Yeah, well, this morning I found myself at Spar again just using the normal cards again. Much easier and without hassles having to use both device and cards.

Just need to mention, still nice to have it on the device as a backup in case of an emergency, but that is that.

Maybe SA and Samsung will one day catch on to the technology, maybe not.

Shame I just read them the digits from my Apple watch. No need to muck about with a wallet.

Yeah, no, I just thought it was a great tech they added, but in reality not. If I was Samsung, I would remove the loyalty card functionality while it is not working in SA. Because, if this is not their problem, it sure makes them look bad and leaves their app half-working too.

Nonetheless, lessons learnt, and thanks for confirming it.

But then again, I do not even know why I am surprised or even f**king disappointed with this. What the f**k is working in SA and the new world in any event? Half-baked s**t they are selling us and everyone happy about it. :sneaky::sneaky::sneaky:

now you get it, nothing works in this country, besides SARS and the ANC

Actually our POS aren't to bad, our banking sector is pretty advanced in comparison to the rest of the world. The US still uses cheques, cards aren't that popular. The only overseas visitors who complain about our banking are generally from Taiwain, Thailand or such where the NFC is a lot wider used.
The issue isn't the POS, it's the setup of them that has a few hiccups, especially from the stores side.

So I had the battery saving on to keep the battery at 85%, turned it off last night to get it to 100%, 6 hours later battery is only at 84% now, with same amount of usage would've had it at 50% when it was at 85%. Odd

I wonder if it's not worth alternating, i.e. majority of the time have the battery saving on, every now and again turn it off for a couple of weeks.

With battery saving on I am finding I am sometimes charging twice a day with the S23+. However I am a bit paranoid of letting the battery go too low in case of an emergency so I'll start charging again around 20-25% if I remember, or if I am going out for a while I'll want a full 85% charge first.
