Samsung Galaxy S3 confirmed for SA

Don't think there was any chance that it would be otherwise.

The S2 is one of the biggest sellers ever, so why would its successor not make it to our fair shores?
 
In all probability we will only have the S3 in August/September like we did the previous two iterations and the iPhone in December like the previous one's as well. Long wait for you then. I upgrade July, so hopefully it is here then or I can hang in there for another month or so.
 
So MTN has just confirmed that an as-yet-unannounced device is coming to SA?
Samsung themselves haven't even announced/launched the S3 yet.

Good job, MTN. You just broke world mobile news - in SA.

Being somewhat interpretive in MTN's comments, I'd say they're looking at an early Q3 launch. We're in Q1 now, they range a quarter in advance, and Cell C said they're hoping for a July 2012 launch. So 5-6 months wait.

Aaaaahh :( I upgrade in March, now what do I do. If I get the S2 now, next year I'll have old technology.

I can't wait 5 - 6 months to upgrade.

This is now the second nexus device in SA that MTN has skipped. Next time I will skip MTN because my upgrade my not co-incide with the S4 being here. I am thinking of skipping MTN all together, because in all probability they are not even going to have the S3 when my upgrade time comes this round and I already have the S2 - they will have no other option for me.

As I said above, I don't think the July launch is going to happen. They normally always 2-3 months out from when they say they hope to release. So six months on means September - I can believe that.
 
What an ambitious Article this is, all this purely based on a rumour mill! Sammy has not even confirmed what the device will be called or the most imported reveal date!!
 
The SGS2 is so good that Samsung need not be hasty. With ICS on the SGS2 it will be more than adequate considering the competition. If Samsung is wise they'll wait until the SGS2 has settled well into the US market and then do a global launch. No need to have slowed-down S2 sales already because people wait for the S3.

And then there is the Note also that already offers an upgrade of sorts for those willing to go bigger.
