Samsung Galaxy S3

I've got an irritating issue with the French ROM.

I've been wondering why I've slept so badly the last few nights. Realised now that once the battery is fully charged the phone screen will light up and a noise is made every few minutes.

Anyone else experienced this? How do I get rid of it to get good night's sleep? Is it specifically the French one and if so which ROM doesn't do it?

Same problem with the polish rom

I'm about the flash the new UK ROM, here's hoping it resolves this annoyance. Thanks for the responses. Problem is that I am not certain which ROMs have had the issue as I might have slept through it. I do know, in hindsight, my night's sleep has been disturbed the last few nights which coincides with the French ROM use.

hi

I want to flash to JB. on this page, they have:
Base Firmware: I9300XXDLJ4 (4.1.1)
Region Europe
Country: United Kingdom
Carrier: Unbranded
Build Date: 19 October 2012
Modem: XXDLID
CSC: OXADLJ4

I have (using *#1234#):
AP: i9300xxblfb
cp: i9300xxlfb
csc: i93000jvblf2

Question is, does my modem have to be the exact same model number (mine is xxlfb, theirs xxdlid)?

EDIT: Also, I'd like MIUI as well. But as the MHL is proprietary, would my HDMI work (I've heard CM10 does not support MHL for the S3)?

Just some feedback, the UK ROM seems to have resolved the noise and screen switching on when the battery is fully charged. It's been at 100% for a while now and no sounds.... just hope I have not spoken too soon.

You can dual boot an omega and aokp omega rom with siyah. That way you get to have aosp-ish rom, but still have mhl on your secondary.

No. Modem depends on local conditions. The uk ones should be fine, but it's wise to stick with local modems, if you're not willing to experiment

Yeah tried it, it works fine. Makes phone calls, internet, etc.

Pity that Google Now is almost as worthless as S-Voice. Might as well go the full nine years and flash MIUI.

Btw whats this about siyah dual-booting?

Ok, here are my battery stats:

http://db.tt/Ym0drX0l
http://db.tt/BIW155Nb

From what I can tell my battery drain is 2.5% an hour. Is this normal?
2.5% per hour is quite high.

Firstly, battery monitoring apps, like the BetterBatteryStats app it self, is interfering with the reading.
"battery-monitor" (): 54 m 35 s (3275 s) Cnt:(c/wc/ec)3300/0/3300 8.6%

To fix this go to the BBS app -> then settings (top icon)
Now: scroll down to widgets -> Refresh freq -> set to "none".
Also: scroll down to Watchdog -> un-tick "Screen-Off".

This should eliminate any interference from BBS.

Note: Also uninstall any other battery monitoring app you may have AND do not use any kind of battery widget.

Secondly, your wifi network is causing your phone to wake unnecessarily.
"wlan_rx_wake" (): 1 h 7 m 19 s (4039 s) Cnt:(c/wc/ec)2822/0/2822 10.7%
"wlan_ctrl_wake" (): 52 m 39 s (3159 s) Cnt:(c/wc/ec)652/0/653 8.3%

This usually happens when your router has DHCP and assigns a dynamic IP to your phone.
To fix this permanently assign a STATIC IP to your phone.
The easiest way to do this is to connect your phone to WIFI, now log into your router (via a PC) and reserve your phones current IP for it. This should eliminate the constant "handshaking" done by the router and your phone to "renew it's lease" for lack of a better term. There is another way by explicitly setting Static IPs to your devices connected to the router, but it's more effort so lets first try the easy way ;).

Also
1) disable GPS and Bluetooth when you don't use it.
2) go to settings -> Location Services -> un-tick "Google's Location Services"
3) Open Google Maps -> click on the drop down box (top-left corner) -> Latitude -> then sign out
4) Open Google Maps -> Menu -> Settings -> Location Settings -> Location Reporting -> set it to "Do not update"
5) Open Google Maps -> Menu -> Settings -> Location Settings -> Location Reporting -> Un-tick ALL OPTIONS in that screen.
6) Do you use gTalk on your phone? If you do no worries :). If you don't use it, then open gTalk -> menu -> Sign out (same goes for Google+ as well)

Once you have done these things take another overnight reading and report back, oh and please take a screen shot of the screen at Settings -> Battery and of the Screen on-time as well :) . From there we will be able to help you much more efficiently.

GL ;)

Google now is a battery drain (through maps), so if only for that, disable it.

With siyah kernel, you can go to stweaks (app), and select boot into 2nd recovery, and install a secondary rom. When you reboot your phone you have 3s to select your rom. I haven't tried yet, need to download a compatible rom (omega aokp for eg).

This feature is in beta and you need to check that the rom is compatible. All omega roms are, as far as I know.

Wow thanks dude, this is some solid advice. Following some of your tips I managed to get 0% battery drain in aeroplane mode overnight. BBS reported 6.8hrs and 0.1 drain per hour. :D
Now I can start turning things back on and find what is causing the biggest drain and then set up a few Tasker profiles to turn them off when I go into sleep mode.

Nerdfun to commence imminently!

From the tips I got it down to 1.4% per hour. It wasn't fully charged though, will try and do a proper run tonight.

Noob question:
Is it possible to retrieve a deleted file (video from gallery)? Phone stock.

Thanks
