Yeah, I'm one of those that actually use my phone. I have seen many of these screenshots on the net showing long usage but without an intimate knowledge of the actual usage it is pretty meaningless. My phone spends a lot of the day with the screen on (checking emails, tapatalk, facebook, twitter, browsing the net, taking photos etc etc etc etc).

The "screen on" spikes on your screenshot look vastly different to mine!

Good for you dude. It really depends on the individual usage. Some days it's about a day and half. So it all depends really. I spent most my time on the road these 3 days. I also used Facebook, tons of calls, photos, videos and the above services actively running. Oh, my brightness is set to minimum as well.

So yes, it's possible to achieve over 3 days! Merry Christmas to you! time to charge! :)
 
I hear you but I see this posting of battery usage has become a bit of a fad online with most seemingly trying to outdo the others with how long the phone lasts. As stated by me, and confirmed by you, this seems like a futile exercise which shows very little as to get it to last long you have to stop using it. It also creates an expectation from those who do not understand these phones that they should be getting three days too... this was the reason for me posting a more realistic picture.

I'm on Omega 34, what is the main difference between the stock kernel and siyah kernel?

Dude I hear you too, bragging was never my intention. Actually it was the total opposite. The purpose of these screen shots is merely showing those that it's possible to achieve 3 days using custom roms and other tweaking, kernels etc. Yes, yours is more realistic on busy days. This is meant for those who don't spend most of their lives on their phones.

I can't even dream of this kind of battery life. Mine comes off the charger at 6am and I'm LUCKY to make it to 21:00. Had much better performance with my iPhone 4S. Seriously thinking of switching to an iPhone 5 or something. This thing is killing me with the battery problem.

Use a battery analyser to determine what is draining your battery life. I've used my phone a fair amount today since charging first thing in the morning as usual, and it's currently on 65%.

Why not RMA it? Could be faulty.

Quite a few pages back I went through quite a lot of pain trying to diagnose battery problems. In the end I exchanged my phone for a new one. Sorted.

I doubt it. When I used Juice Defender by battery life improved by almost 3 times. I reckon it's a software issue. I am now using Android 4.1.2 it came over the air as an update.
 
Hi all. Quick question. My wife just received her S3 on Vodacom. It worked great the first 3 days. Now suddenly it can't make or receive calls. It shows emergency calls only. Is this a network issue or a phone issue? We didn't change any setting? Any advice please.

Check if airplane mode is not enabled.
 
Hi all. My wife dropped her S3 awhile ago and the screen is badly cracked. Touch screen was still working and all other functions worked but now the display has turned black and touch screen fubar. Does anyone know of a decent repair shop in Cape Town?

I have sms delivery report request turned on but I don't get them.
If I long press my sms and click message details it says delivery report not requested!
What could be causing this
