Samsung Galaxy S5

45 used phones? Jeez, a new one normally lasts me the 20 months it takes to be able to upgrade to the next phone.

:p

Or if it doesn't, I use the wife's old phone for the remaining months.

I cannot wait to upgrade to the Note 5 in December.

A new one seems to last me 3 months max :( Been using the S6 Edge now for 2 weeks now and I'm quite enjoying it

Not even a month old and I just dropped the f-ing thing. Small dent in the silver bezel on top.

Anyone ever had their silver bezel replaced? Is it replaced during a screen change (like the S4) or seperate? Cost?
Separate from ADH they say but costs about R1400 at samsung repair centre.
Best to upgrade before upgrading to new phone.

Thanks for the info. I finally got my OCD over the dent - luckily the silver finish did not come off. Will probably sell the S5 next year when S6 hits bargain pricing so not definitely not spending that kind of money to replace the chassis. Murphy says the next day after fixing, one will drop it again.

My response as well. Thus suggestion by repair centre to me to bring it in next year when I upgrade as prices for the spare part (chassis) would have fallen.
If you fix get a nice case cover. Waiting for blue s5 sview wireless cover to be in stock. Ordered from Amazon UK but still waiting for availability.

I am so glad I stuck with a device with a removable battery. S5 takes 2hr15 to charge whereas the extra battery kit swaps in 60 seconds flat including phone startup. I just can't handle having the device attached to a wall for that long!

WTF, are you using a 0.5a charger? I charge from dead to full in around 50 minutes

Nope - using the 2.0A official Samsung charger

How many of your have an S5 - 32Gb version?
They seem really rare.

I do, the non-LTE 32 GB G900H. It came with a USB 3.0 cable. I got it from Cell C when I renewed my contract (I almost didn't, I wanted just the contract but it was only R 89/month more so I thought why the hell not :D).

Then your charger might be borked. I have a few Samsung 2.0A chargers and last night I noticed that if I use my phone while it's on charge the battery drops very slowly. I plugged it into another charger and gained battery power at a rate of around 1-2 % per minute, still while in use. The borked charger now has S2 duty, it only accepted 650mA so not supplying the full 2.0A isn't an issue.

Just ran a test with the charger that came with my S5. Started at 33% at 18:58. I just unplugged at 20:06 and the phone is on 93%. I was wrong earlier, a charge from flat takes my phone 1hr:45min. No idea how some of you get i done in under an hour.

I get similiar results with 2x S4 chargers which I use sometimes.
