Do you think any of our service providers will carry the OnePlus?

That's got to be the phone of 2014.

Invite only so I think the only way to get one is to get an invite from a phone owner then pay cash for it and have it imported.

I don't think there's any lag, having played with mine. I personally also like Touchwiz, does what you need and keeps it simple.

Why do you think that is the best? I have never used one just curious what makes it better in your opinion?
The waterproof thing is really not a biggie for me

Just saying if all things are considered, like price, build quality, user interface, hardware etc. The S5 is an awesome phone; I just think there are better phones.

Played with my friends new S5, wow that launcher is awful. We switched to Nova, I use it on my Note 2, and the lag was gone.
All that R&D to speed up the phone and they slow down with all that Touchwiz bloat.

Yeah I use go launcher, love it

I've relied on Nova Launcher Prime for ages. It does indeed make a big difference. You can also improve things (assuming you want to stay on stock firmware) by rooting, installing Greenify off the Play Store and setting the unnecessary background processes to hibernate when the app in question is not in use. Frees up a huge amount of RAM.

Bryn also forgot about the HTC one but out of the lot I prefer the S5 because specifications for everything that matters is similar or better. More importantly, ADH.

I didn't forget about the HTC One - I just don't rate it. The mediocre camera, poor support in SA and humongous lower front bezel put me off completely. It's great in the other aspects though.

Hopefully eventually. SA is not amongst the launch countries unfortunately. Once the initial overwhelming demand has waned a bit it shouldn't be much harder than importing a Nexus 5 if you are buying prepaid.

Fnb need to update their app for this phone. I cannot log off and have to force close the app to log off as I can't bring up the exit app menu.

Press and hold the recent apps button.

Thank you :) learning as I go along :p Thought 2 years of S2 would prepare me for this. I'm using the fingerprint scanner to lock my phone and I find I have the best chance of first time unlock if I use the don't think about it approach. Just click and slide, don't try get clever. I also found out that when setting a finger print, you can get away with using both thumbs during the learn scan process. That way both thumbs are saved under one fingerprint and I can use either thumb to unlock.

There are plenty ROMs for the Octa-core S4, but not as much as the i9505.

Cyanogenmod has been out for the Exynos variant for a while now: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=i9500

I check that page daily, as well as the relevant threads on XDA. Those nightly's have some major bugs, notably with in-call sound quality. Not daily driver material at this stage.

Also, the plenty of ROM's for the ota core Exynos S4, without any major bugs, are all based on Samsung's stock ROM's, from what I can tell.

Lol I get finger 100% of the time now. Also, once you figure out the press and hold or 3 vertical dots the recent apps button becomes nothing but a perfect multi-tasking pleasure. :)

All the tech sites agree that the S5's display is pretty much the best phone display ever made.

Anyone else notice that some of the app icons look a bit blurry because of the phones high resolution? its very obvious with the facebook and whatsapp icons.

Yeah but many phones have outstanding displays, to the point where it makes no difference to the layman's naked eye. The Z2 and One M8 displays are heralded as brilliant in reviews.

It's not just about what you can see...

I'm not the one who brought up display quality. All the top phones have good displays. I would never buy a phone because tests show it to be slightly more technically accomplished than the others.

Daily driver? Its perfectly stable. I'm on it currently. There are no major bugs. In-call audio quality is a modem issue, but if you flash the latest modem call quality is 100%.

I've been playing with other ASOP ROM's like AICP with no issues either. My biggest gripe was battery consumption which turned out to be an issue with Google Keyboard.

Would you buy one because you can take your phone into the bush for a week on a single charge?
What about for a lack of eye strain and a battery bonus (lighter phone) all mixed into one?
How about actually really being able to use the screen in daylight for extended periods thanks to a lack of reflections and the brightness (which surpasses other phones).
Also, 3.0 JNCD...
And blacks are actually black.

Anyway, nothing beats it on so many counts but I guess the average user will never notice these :whistling:
