Did you do it? Which firmware did you use if you did?

Did it with my Note 3, when KitKat started to come out. Couldn't wait, so flashed the Poland version. When SA caught up, I flashed the Vodacom version. Just download the firmware and flash with odin. There should be guides everywhere.

Is there no way to just flash the Samsung version?

I know the process well - I purchased Mobile Odin Pro some time ago - much easier!

I don't think so. Samsung issues the firmwares to the operators and then they do what they do with it. When you see it on Sammobile, it is already altered to suit the country/operator

of course. that's what i'm talking about. you download them from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
I think you misunderstood. AT wants a "clean" version, but necessarily Vanilla

some countries don't have operator bloatware. like poland. it is not mobile operator branded like we have here. So i think you misunderstood. Astro?

Yea What Koning said but if there are pure roms I may consider one.

Was thinking in the lines of the roms that come with the FNB phones as an example

He wants "Vanilla" Samsung firmware. I think it was XFA on the S2. A South African firmware but not linked to any operators. Those used to be on Sammobile for the S2, but there is none for the S5. The Polish one could well work for him (and for me too tbh)

the polish one worked fine for me on the note 3. only reason i put the SA version back is because the phone wouldn't be under my constant supervision anymore.

If the S2 is anything to go by, the radios might be slightly different too. I had endless tests to get the perfect (for me) radio combinations with each firmware I used. Ideally it would be perfect to have an operator free firmware from the country in which you will be using the phone

They dont really know what to do, I was at the shop in Norwood, but dont think they understand whats going on, they keep checking coverage even though I keep telling them that my wifes phone picks up 4G when she is sitting next to me

1. Take 5 relevant screenshots.
2. Go here: http://www.samsung.com/za/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone/smart-phone/SM-G900HZBEXFA-support
3. Send them an email from the link including a description of everything you have tried as well as a screenshot from your wifes phone showing 4g and one of your phone with her sim in not showing 4g.
4. Click on live chat and tell them you just sent an email then explain to them what is happening as well in case they have a faster solution.
