My S3, two years later, pristine condition. Perhaps you're hard on phones and nothing will do. Not sure how those examples answer the "feel" question though.

as for the gear, awesome piece of kit!! still deciding if i really need it, but very very cool, and a drastic improvement over the original gear! (might be selling this in the next few weeks if i find that it wont serve me any purpose)
also noticed that the S5 has a better wifi range, places where my S4 would loose wifi signal in my house the S5 still had a bar or 2.

What do you do with your phone?

My S2 still looks brand new.

I some how doubt that as I have a desk job and pretty much everything I own is always immaculate. Face it, the materials aren't up to the levels that Apple, HTC and Sony are using.

No hassles at all. Even s1 which my son lost last year was fine. S3 more than a year fine. S2 only complaint is back panel has a crack.
 
Look, you all may be happy with the BQ of your devices and that is completely ok, for you.

I will only buy a Samsung again when they drastically improve their build materials. I don't think there is anything fundamentally wrong with Samsungs BQ but in my opinion they do the bare minimum and charge top Dollar. It's really a pity as technologically their devices are very good, besides for the SW bloat.
 
The metal panel on the side of my gold reminds me of my grandfather's gold watches. The back has an almost leather feel to it, only it feels more lasting. Have you guys actually held one of these in your hands as yet? Also the weight is perfect, I suppose it could be heavier to fool some into believing it is more premium but I think we are past the point of weighting things down with lead to make them feel more valuable.
 
Radio antennas do not like metal.

Samsung has learnt well from Apple's antennagate saga.

Are you happy with the gold? Is it a shiny effect or more matt?

My S3 - 1.5 years old - pristine condition. Brother's S3 and S4 - 2 and 1 year old - pristine condition. Friend's S2 - 2.2 years old - pristine condition. Other friend's S3 - 2 years old - pristine condition. Really dunno what you did with yours.

And the metal used on iPhones collect scratches with normal use like it's nobody's business. The metal also doesn't have the 'give' plastic phones do, so drops or knocks leave dents easier.

It's very subdued but yes I am quite happy with it. It's the first time in years that I am happy with a non black phone.

Very refreshing.

Agreed, my S3 is 23 months old and is close to being pristine. I have dropped it several times (with a cygnet back cover) and the last few months not using a cover and dropped it a couple of times. The last time the phone went skidding across the tiled passage way as I was not holding it properly. Can't say there are any noticeable marks on it. If u look carefully there are smudges that could possible be buffed out.
 
Had a look at the S5 today.The back is definitely an improvement on the previous plastic glossy finish.Screen display is gorgeous.
By all accounts the internals are fantastic.
Just a pity the phone has a cheap look to it, unlike the other premium phones.It's like getting into a Ferrari that looks like a Toyota Corolla on the outside .
