GSMArena Galaxy S6 Review is here:

The battery test results are quite a drop from the S5 and nowhere near the Note 4, they are actually more comparable to the Galaxy S4 I9500. Very disappointing, IMO.

You conveniently overlooked this part of the review;

The battery scores aren't that bad and are in fact higher than average. The S6's battery had enough juice to last 17 and a half hours on 3G calls, almost 9 hours on non-stop web browsing and 10 and a half hours on looped video playback. The stand-by endurance is slightly above average too.

In the end the new flagship managed to achieve of respectable rating of 64h, which might not be as impressive as the 83h mark of Galaxy S5, but it still means your Galaxy S6 will last at least two and a half days if you are using it for an hour of calls, web and video playback each day.

That GSMArena review has taken the wind out of my sails a bit. The phone is a powerhouse with a great screen and build, but battery downgrade is a biggie for me as I have relied HEAVILY on my S4's extra battery kit as I am hard on the phone and often drain 1 1/2 batteries between 7am and 4:30pm. I simply do not have time to charge as I am never at my desk or in the car long enough.

Potential lack of ADH is also a biggie for me - I refuse to pay exorbitant insurance premiums to cover my handset and the S6 has a lot of glass to break.

On top of all of this, the phone is going to be expensive and contracts will be priced accordingly......

Tough decision this :-/

And GSM Arena conveniently overlooked the part where the endurance rating is lower than both versions of the S4 besides being lower than the S5. And let's face it, 2.5 days is nonsense, the review is absolutely gushing, they're trying to spin everything as positive. QHD is a waste, it's also more than a little disappointing that the iPhone has better real world gaming performance than the S6. Also after all that marketing they conclude the Note 4 has a slightly better camera.

I think this one will come down to price for me, I'm willing to pay a little extra for good design, but not if it means having poor battery life (my S4 has never made it through a single day without needing to be charged in the nearly two years I've had it) and little storage space (32gb is a non-starter for me).

That is my issue. As stated, currently on S4. I use calls, whatsapp, emails and social media extensively with some after hours browsing thrown in.

I don't game. I need good battery performance, a great screen and power to perform the above without lag. S5 and Note 4 + extra battery kit will give me all of that without the massive price premium of S6....

Plus S5 comes with Premium ADH, Note 4 watered down

This phone isn't for you then.

Sounds like the HTC M9 is for you then. Lower res screen with similar performance and expandable storage. Lower res screen means battery life should be better than the S6.

I'm currently on the S4 as well. Pre-ordered the S6 on upgrade. Cant wait :D

Nope, I purposefully left it out, they said all that to soften the blow of the reality that is, the S6 has taken a nose dive in battery life, 64h Endurance is pathetic for a to end in 2015.

Let us go back to 2013, to the 69h score the S4 I9505 got:
Talk time: 18:03
Web browsing: 7:24
Video Playback: 12:30
http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-i9505-galaxy-s4-battery-tests-update-battery-life-improved/
S6 in comparison:

Talk time: 17:29
Web browsing: 8:44
Video Playback: 10:24
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s6-review-1227p3.php

I'm sorry but that is just unforgivable, the S4 LTE beats the S6 in everything but web browsing, and even the lead in Web browsing isn't much considering the S6 is two gens. newer than the S4.

The S6 is pretty and powerful, but the battery life complaints are going to come in heavily, probably more than any other Galaxy model. There is only so much the 14nm Exynos7420 can do when put together with a puny battery and 2K display.

You're comparing minutes here. If this is so disappointing for you, go for the M9. As capable, slightly lower specced, but no doubt better battery life.

I agree with Tsepz. Every launch by Samsung is about the big numbers and dazzling specs over the previous iteration and every other phone out there. The lack of SD card and removable battery can be seen as evolution and getting with the times, BUT the reduced performance of the battery is a pretty big clanger when everyone was looking for a major increase in this critical area where it actually affects user experience.

The phone isn't even out yet. GSMArena claims the battery is above average. On par with the iPhone 6. The Note 4 and S5 beat it in their preliminary tests, but not by a huge margin.

If this is so disappointing then get the M9 or G4. /shrug (which I doubt will be miles ahead in terms of real time battery usage.)

Sure, each to their own judgement of course. So if you fancy 'above average' and the comparison to an iPhone battery, then great stuff. To me it is disappointing and I did get something else after waiting for the announcement when I saw it had dropped the IP ratings.

I got it for the IP68 rating and the dual sim, but I'm loving the Z3's battery life actually ;)

I convinced my friend to get the Z3 :D. Fantastic phone.

Unfortunately the display doesnt even compare to the S4's display even. One reason I'll stick to Samsung is purely the display. Nothing comes close the latest AMOLED technology.

Hmmm, I have to disagree there I'm afraid. As a previous owner of the S4 and S5, I'd say it's a lot more vibrant than the S4 but I'd like to see it side by side with an S5 before I comment further :D

Haha, minutes!!?? You best check again, and even if it were minutes we are having to compare the S6 to a phone two generations old, that is quite sad, I mean it is an utter insult that they could only compare the S6 to the iPhone 6, due to the S6 falling far behind last years phones.

No thanks to the M9, I have Note 4, not only does it have better battery life than the S6, the display is bigger while quality is the same, takes better pics and vids (check that very same review), and has all the S6's missing features including a ton more that the S6 will never get (hardware dependant).

I just hope Samsung don't make the same foolish mistakes with the Note 5 as they have in the S6, not after doing such a fantastic job with the Note 4.

Don't know where you get your BS from, but do some research.

Samsung improved the optics since the Galaxy Note 4, but also the image processing. As a result the Samsung Galaxy S6 photos are impressively sharp. Noise is kept in check, while processing artifacts from noise reduction are hard to spot, foliage in particular looks great.

It's better at pics than the Note 4, but you claim otherwise?

Tell me how the Note 4 is better?

What BS, everything I said was a fact.

From the GSMArena review:
16MP main camera is among the best in terms of resolved detail, noise and sharpness, as well as features, but our test charts show that the Galaxy Note 4 is still ever so slightly better.
Video quality is excellent both in 2160p and 1080p resolution, but again, the Galaxy Note 4 video feed is marginally sharper.

How the Note 4 is better, where do I start?

SPen and its functions
Better Battery Life
SD Slot that can take 128GB MicroSD on top of 32GB built-in mem
Bigger display with the same quality
Takes better pics and vids

How difficult is it for Samsung to just design a battery that kicks ass? Is it that difficult?
