Indicative pricing for the Samsung S6 range available on Vodacom new line applications (this includes Porting from a different Service Provider) and also available for renewal Upgrades

Meh. :(

Guess I will have to wait till better offers come out as that is very expensive compared to when the s4 first came out.

Yeh, I'm on the same page as you. These prices are really discouraging and making reconsider my stance on "keeping up with Samsungs" can't afford it anymore :(

So, the local Samsung store has the S6 and Edge on display. Had a short look at it.

It's the best looking and built device Sasmsung has ever made. I cannot describe how many orders of magnitude this device is above the S5 in terms of in hand feel, material design and overall build. It definitely competes with the iPhone 6, and I think may surpass it in terms of material feel. The Edge in particular, has a very noticeable and solid "edge" along the sides.

The screen is absolutely gorgeous, and blows everything else out of the water with ease. It has a similar level of "floatiness" to the iPhones. Clear, tack-sharp, and responsive.

The software... well, it's TouchWiz. But, it melds with Material Design far better than I would have imagined. The iconography has been updated, it's far less garish and in your face. Overall, a decent improvement, but I'd still perfer stock Android as the overlay.

I can certainly see this device pinching sales from Apple. It's immensely well put together, and looks outstanding.

Unified ROM development is also a big plus without samsung offering two different SoC's. This coupled with everything else makes it arguably the best Android device ever made.

Which store was this? I see cellucity have them on display but a bit of a trek to get to one - would prefer a brand store.

I don't know if this is important but according to Erica Griffin:

"Edge features are only available when the display is off. The screen is 16:9 aspect, 1440p. There is no extra edge added like the Note 4 Edge. If the S6 Edge was to offer what the Note 4 Edge does the features would cut into the UI.

Bob Brooks you do know that the Edge features only work when the display is off for this phone right? This is not the Note 4 edge. The Note 4 edge has some extra screen real estate to accommodate those extra functions. On this device the curve is part of the display and just looks interesting unless the display is off.

I don't think people realize that. If you use the edge while the display is on (hypothetically), it will eat into the 1440p screen area. You would be cutting off part of the UI. It's pointless."

It seems like edges eats into mail screen space. A comment on Erica's webpage"+Erica Griffin One thing that people haven't mentioned is that the available flat reading surface is smaller on the Edge. I noticed this when handling one at my local best buy. The text, images, and videos all bend off the edges. "

Definitely going to wait before getting this phone

Same. Putting in my month's notice at Cell C tomorrow. 1 May will port to Vodacom prepaid and then just chill with my S4 for a while until things settle. Have ADH until September on my S4 so not in a rush To sign up for a new contract phone.

Was with Vodacom before this 2 year Cell C nightmare and never had a problem with them. Moved simply because of pricing. Once you have been raped by Cell C, you will be much more willing to pay more at a better network.

Bud trust me Vodacom isn't the answer. I'm moving to Telkom. Dropped calls. Slow data speeds and insane costs just doesn't cut it
