Just wanted to say thanks for this.Tired numerous methods, I finally changed my s7 edge csc from VD2 to XFV without root. Now I can use Samsung pay and Wifi calling, but Volte is still not available. Is Volte working in Vodacom now?
For those maybe interest, the following are the way I have done:
1. Downloaded this Combination File https://filesrom.com/firmware-combination-g930-g935. I am on G935FXXU2, so I downloaded COMBINATION_FA60_G935FXXU2ARA1_CL7964511. If not, please choose the one corresponding to your current firmware.
2. Downloaded Odin 3.13.1
3. Downloaded this ROM:
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935F/XFV/
Latest version (2018-08-20)
4. Run Odin, download mode on phone and install firmware downloaded from SamMobile.
5. Restart phone, enter OS and do factory data reset.
6. Remove "hidden.img.lz4" from HOME_CSC (included in firmware) with 7Zip. It has to be repacked to a Tar file.
7. Go back to download mode, open odin and choose the combination file under AP and the recently modified version of Home_CSC under CSC. Only these two files.
8. Reboot and enter factory mode.
9. In Factory Ime input *#243203855#
10. Choose XFV as the new CSC and install, then reboot
11. Back to download mode and reinstall firmware, all four files, BL, AP, CP and normal CSC file (not Home CSC).
12. Boot up to XFV
Just wanted to say thanks for this.
Busy going through handset changes in the house and wanted to get my S7E and my wife's S7 back to XFA from BTU.
I was on XXU3 on both devices, so had to find the relevant combination files, but other than that, all was very simple and easy to follow.
Both devices back to original XFA in no time.
Thanks again.
Hi do you mind sharing the link for the combination files ? I am still struggling to get back to XFA.
Currently running a UAE CSC but Samsung Pay works on it.
Do you need the XXU3 combination file? For S7 or S7E?
Actually I am not too sure what I need. It's a S7E.
Previous time I tried the procedure the Odin flash kept failing. Not sure if I downloaded all the right files.
I find that my Odin flash also fails if I try go back to Android 7.
This is what is on the phone at the momentDo you need the XXU3 combination file? For S7 or S7E?
Thanks a lot. Going to give this a go over the weekend.Okay, so you're battling to downgrade as the newer bootloader won't allow that. Follow my modified instructions below:
1. Download this combination file (XXU3 - which is what you're currently on) - https://tinyurl.com/ybdk3bbm
2. Download Odin 3.13.1
3. Download the latest XFA rom: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935F/XFA/download/G935FXXS3ERHD/238623/
4. Run Odin, download mode on phone and install ROM downloaded from SamMobile (IN STEP 3).
5. Restart phone, go into recovery mode, do a factory reset.
6. Provided you downloaded this exact ROM file from sammobile (in step 3), then you can use this TAR file that I created that has already had the hidden file removed and has been repacked - https://tinyurl.com/y85gakez
7. Go back to download mode, open odin and choose the combination file (from step 1 under AP and the repacked TAR file from step 6 under CSC. Only these two files). Flash the phone.
8. Reboot and enter factory mode (this happens automatically from reboot, be patient).
9. In factory mode, press IME icon and enter *#243203855#
10. Select XFA as the new CSC and install, then reboot
11. Back to download mode and reinstall standard XFA Rom from step 3, all four files, BL, AP, CP and normal CSC file (not Home CSC).
12. Boot up to XFA and be happy.
