Also got the order confirmation for delivery of the VR in the next couple of days.
Popped down to Vodacom, got a nice case, glass screen protector and wireless charger.

there is more and more content around 3D and VR... but the Gear VR is basically a google cardboard made out of plastic

Not in the slightest.

It has motion sensors built in so the experience is much smoother and more accurate.
It has muuuuch better lenses (that plastic on cardboard is terrible).
It has a laptop type touchpad.
Occulus power it.
Volume control.
Focus.

the google cardboard lenses is not plastic... not mine in any case.

The question you have to ask though is exactly why are Samsung giving it away.

I personally feel that they have designed/are designing a new generation that will be going onto next gen phones and by giving it away this generation they are creating a client base for the next gen.

They are giving it away, because it wasn't selling any units when they first brought it out.

There apps like that already in the app store for the cardboard... nothing new... but why you want to be able to look at the wall instead of the movie when the screen is literally 1 inch from your eyes, i'll never know

exactly what i'm saying... until i can put it on and have selma hayek in her prime sit on my face so i can taste and smell it, VR will stay a gimmick to me
