I'm guessing Vodacom as usual will get the Snapdragon variant:

Vodacom seem to go with the variant Vodafone UK use, and news around the benchmarks is that the Snapdragon 820 is beating the Exynos8890.

I am actually considering an iphone simply because they are so dirt cheap.

Honestly have never heard of us getting the Snapdragon versions. Anyway, I want the Exynos. Faster multi-core performance. Plus that GPU + Vulkan = awesomeness.

You seem to forget that Samsung helped Qualcomm develop and fabricate the latest Snapdragon820. This time around it seems even the Snapdragon's CPU is just as good as Exynos, while the 820's GPU is much more powerful.

My S4 has Exynos. Also Vodacom. Very weird.

The benchmarks I checked seemed to indicate that the Exynos is better at multitasking.

Did you get yours at launch? Voda's initial stock was i9500 (Exynos) then they discontinued that and went with i9505 (LTE Snapdragon) and have done so ever since. The S4, Note 3, S5, Note4 all Snapdragon.

Exynos is notoriously difficult to root and custom rom. That's why a lot of people do not like that version.
