Telkom usually have the cheapest deals, so I am worried that Vodacom will charge more. Telkom also called me yesterday but I couldn't hear what they were saying , then the line dropped.

They have started displaying the S7 here in Singapore. The handset prices are $998 (11k rands) for the S7 32gb and $1098 (12.2K rands) for the S7 32gb edge.
If I put down a $50 (555 rands) deposit, they are promising a free Gear VR when they release the phone on 11th March.
I must say I am tempted but I have been bitten once when I bought a Samsung S4 in Saudi Arabia and then tried to get it fixed in South Africa. Something to do with the warranty not valid because I bought the phone outside of South Africa.

Another question, i am deciding between the edge and the regular. With regards to the edge... Is the edge the same as on the edge plus or has it been refined in a sense

S7 edge = 2800 Emirati dirhams (R12,234)

edit: ZAR - AED was 4.369 but it's pretty erratic and changing constantly

The Edge was very nice and although I'm not too familiar with the Edge 6+, I thought it had a surprisingly small form factor. The normal S7 felt nice in hand too and looked like a smaller Note 5 with the curved back edges.

Sounds strange. I recall being at Sandton City on S6 launch day last year and Samsung had 2 stands in 2 different parts of the mall with tens of real phones that I could play with.
