BREAKING: First live photo leak of the Galaxy S8 confirms key details

Samsung is going to launch two models of the Galaxy S8 which will feature a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. There’s not going to be a flat display version as both handsets will have the dual-edge curved display. The screens are said to cover 83 percent of the handset’s front panel and it certainly looks nice.

We already know that the Galaxy S8 is going to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and the report adds that it’s going to feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. A battery size of 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh is mentioned for the 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch model respectively.

The image reveals that the Galaxy S8 is going to have a USB Type-C port and that the physical home button has been removed. We can also see that the standard 3.5mm headphone jack has not been ditched. We can also see that the fingerprint sensor has been positioned alongside the camera on the back.

The report also mentions that Samsung is going to launch the Galaxy S8 at a special event in New York on March 29. The public release is going to take place a couple of weeks later in April. Both Galaxy S8 models are reportedly going to cost €100 more than the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge with the 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch models expected to be priced at €799 and €899 respectively.

Glad to see the 3.5mm jack there. Removing it would be idiotic really, why remove a feature that doesn't need to be removed. :D

I hope those screen sizes are correct.

Samsung doing a great job if minimising Bezels. :)
 
Why dafuq are the making it so big?? Surely it's going to steal marketshare from the note? Unless they're stopping the note altogether cos of the note 7 battery viasco....

The point is to make them have huge displays in the same size body as S7 Edge.

The Note 8 has been confirmed. It will probably have a huge display to, but in the same size body as a Note 7.

Samsung are basically flexing their top engineering muscles here, while certain other phone makers are inefficiently fitting 5.5inch displays in the body size of a 5.7-6inch display phones, making phones that are much bigger than they should be e.g. the iPhone 7 Plus, a phone that is far too large for a 5.5inch display phone.

Am I the only one who cares more about what a phone does than what it looks like???

I couldn't care about more gloss or thinner bezels: give me a packaged virtual reality solution that fundamentally changes the way I interact with all my apps, or let it add genuine value to my life through some other software innovation. Oh, and a bigger battery wouldn't hurt either. Double the capacity wouldn't result in a phone twice as thick, and even if it did wouldn't the benefit be worth it? It's still nothing compared to the phones we used to use not so many years ago:

This phone will cost more than 600pm on a basic contract.



I am waiting for the Note 8,it will be a lot better. Samsung has acquired Harmon(audio manufacturer) and the sale will be official in July this year.

There will be newer tech in Note 8 and stereo speakers. The S8 will just be a phone to retain marketshare and keep shareholders happy. The real tech goes into the Note range, it is the period that Apple launches the iPhone and Samsung tries to outdo Apple.

Samsung acquiring Harmon is an excellent move btw. Harmon also manufactures car radio/audio systems. We will be seeing Samsung tech in the motor vehicle industry.

I am losing interest in the flagship segment.

1. Cos they are ridiculously expensive and i gots bills to pay.

2. Cos the midrange segment has become so fierce. Midrange phones are alot better than a few years ago. I am tempted to move to prepaid and buy a phone cash.The new Nokia handsets seem cool, will be pure android and will be updated regularly.

3.A phone is disposable to me. They are outdated within a year.

The only flagship device I am tempted by is the Note range.

I would consider the LG G6, if it priced cheaper than the S8 and LG has sorted out bootloop +quality control issues.

This is true.

I must say, the S7 Edge I have now has had me forgetting about the Note range, but I would like to go back to a Note in my next phone, so many times that Stylus came in handy.

E.g. Instagram search does not seem to allow pasting of a name or phrase, with my old Note 4 I'd the stylus overroad that if I remember correctly, also simply copying multiple different things e. g. From a website was made so much easier with a Stylus.
 
Love my note. Best phone I ever had.

I work in a very dirty environment and therefore have a screen protector on my phone. IMO it does not work well with a curved screen.

It will be a pity if the Note 8 does not have a flat sceen option. As said I can't wait for it.

Interesting you say that, bought the SO a Samsung J7 Prime a few weeks ago which she is using on prepaid and I have to say I am quite impressed with that device, battery out performs my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (worst Samsung I owned due to lack of SD card functionality)

the s6 battery is also a known piece of schit
 
Yep, S6 and S6 Edge were given rather puny batteries for what they could do, then Samsung overcompensated with the S7 Edge and through in a huge battery, and I hope they keep doing that with the S8.

Of all the S models, the S7 range got the most generous battery sizes for the display size I think I have ever seen, think the closest before this was the Galaxy S5 with its 2800mAh juicer.

The images, which you can see at the bottom of the post, reveal a few of the new features we can expect from the upcoming smartphones. We can see what looks like an IR blaster on top, which would mean you’ll be able to use it as a universal remote, however this could just be sticker residue or a placeholder for a sticker. Additionally, we also noticed the on-screen Home button that is visible at all times. This probably means that you’ll be able to turn on the display of the device just by tapping the button at the bottom of the screen.

That doesn't look like an IR Blaster on top... more like the sim slot on the left, and a mic on the right. But damn, I'm really looking forward to this phone...
