Samsung Galaxy S9

" anyone who needs more than 64GB should be introduced to the concept of Cloud Computing."

This is Africa mate, even the open WiFi hotspots tend to be atrocious. Miss me with Cloud Storage unless it's important documents or important photos i.e. Car accident evidence, or some family pics that are cherished.

And I'm also assuming he's got massive amounts of data to be able to stream that music and movies, right?

Through local storage on a PC/laptop and cloud storage, either off your phone or home internet, it’s not such an issue really. And the demographic that can’t afford that probably isn’t buying a 128/256GB phone in the first place.

Don't know what network you on, but Vodacom offers free wireless charger and level u wireless earphones, and MTN offers the Gear Fit 2.

Ok that’s worth checking out. Currently I’m on FNB connect, paying R249 a month for 5GB. No minutes or SMS but I don’t use those so I don’t care. To get similar on other networks I’m looking at R869.

Yeh, I'm on FNB connect to myself, but upgrade one of my vodacom contracts. Maybe wait for FNB to bring on the S9?

Yea it’s an option. I have a friend who works at MTN so going to see what she can do for me. If nothing great then I’ll just wait.

How do I setup FNB Pay using the FNB app?

There is nothing in settings or on the home page. Screenshot_20180314-081030_FNB.jpgScreenshot_20180314-080954_FNB.jpgScreenshot_20180314-081203_FNB.jpg

I'm not always home and I'm not always carrying my laptop, how ever my smartphone is always on me.

It is an issue for me, why should I depend on our unstable network's for something I can store and access immediately in my phone.

I like Cloud Storage for backing things up, but not as a primary way to access stuff I could locally.

Anyway, all the best on your next phone. Get the iPhone X ;)

Can other wireless chargers work with the S9+? Will there be any negative effects?

I have a Nokia wireless charger I got with a Nokia Lumia. It has worked with all subsequent Nokia phones I have as well as my last Microsoft Lumia 950XL. I tested it on the S9+ and it works. Just not sure if it will be negatively affected by a third party wireless charger.

I have tried using the Nokia wireless charger on other phones and it does not work on Huawei phones and was surprised when it worked on my Samsung.

My old s5 wireless charger pad works fine.

Sorry non Samsung chargers. Dunno only using Samsung brand.

My S6 wireless pad also works - albeit it very slow... you would need the fast charge wireless pad.
Also the LED lights of the wireless charge pad, AoD of the S9 & my wife's S8, & the Aircon LED's - bedroom is a little bit brighter at night. LOL.

Huawei doesn't have wireless charging, that's why it doesn't work. Samsung uses the standard Wireless Power Consortium's Qi standard, that's why it works.

All depends on the standard used ,most have the same standard so will work, and obviously not every phone will have wireless charging.

I agree with you. But a 64GB phone probably has 55GB usable (just guessing here). I'm not sure what 55GB of things are urgently or frequently needed on my phone. Anyway, to each his own.

iPhone X would be great but I can't justify the price.

Spot the non-stock

The Nokia wireless charger seems to be working OK.

I will compare it to the Samsung wireless charger when I get it.

The samsung charger should be MUCH faster!
I'm sure it will be. This charger is more than 6 years old and charged all my Nokia Lumia phones and my last Microsoft Lumia 950XL. Glad it actually worked on the S9+.

Had it hooked up in my car to a special cradle so I could leave my phone in there while driving and it would charge it.

Hi all. I'm having an issue with call recorder apps.

I have tried a few different apps on the play store and they all record my voice but not the voice on the other end of the call. I've googled it and it appears that Samsung SA has disabled call recorder apps on the SA variant of the phone.

Has anyone experienced this issue and have a work-around?

TIA
