Samsung Gear VR

But these phones have these QHD displays for what? It can only be for VR you can't see that res with the naked eye.
S6 577 ppi

Average human adult eye can't see a difference above 300 ppi.
So for normal phone usage you're just kind of wasting resources running that high display.
Now when looking at it through the vr goggles obviously the high ppi should be key, but its still not good enough in my opinion.
I'm not comparing all the other features of VR just the display here, and I think samsung have missed the goal with this version of VR.

Exactly.

It was a silly and bad idea in the first place.

Lite is the new consumer edition. The other one is the innovator edition which has fancier packaging and padded straps.

I've previously read that some people were able stream PC content such as games to the Gear VR. Any truth to this? If so, does anyone have any apps or tutorial recommendations that I can research to make this happen?

I have the S6 Edge. Tried the VR in the mall.

It's too pixelated.

Also had issues with the focus, could get it decent in the middle but then the outer edges are blurred. Sent it back. Waiting for the HTC Vive, want to give that a go.

You will find outer edges will be blurred on all of them by the sheer logic of how the technology works.

You should however only see it when looking for it.

I find it odd that the pixelation is barely notecable when watching 2d movies in one of the virtual cinemas but more noticeable in games and apps designed specifically for the device.
