Samsung One Ui 7.0

i cant be fussed either way... all tha AI stuff if gimmicky

OS updates must be for the better, make the battery last longer and the OS better... ok cool

But im not staying up late at night waiting for the update... as long as it gets to the phone eventually and they keep their promises with regards to support for however many years... thats all
I don't care for the gimmicks either. But the interface still needs to feel right.

I tried the Microsoft launcher app and that looked and felt better, but a pain to get set up just right, but worth the trouble? Nope.

I know you guys with the higher end phones probably aren't experiencing the same thing, but I have an A73 which got the One UI 7 update this week - and boy oh boy has it changed the way I use my phone, for the worst.

I cannot do things as quick as I was used to - the phone lags now. Restarts are a temporary fix. I will try a factory reset and hope for the best.

Minimizing apps, switching between apps, and opening apps are all slow now. Using the finger print unlock (on the screen) feels twice as slow as it used to, and it was already bad as it used to be.

So yeah, the phone is simply not what it used to be on One UI 6.1. It feels like a very pretty three steps back.

Was a bit miff the power button was changed to bring up that Gemini kak.
Otherwise i dont notice too much difference...the battery indicator sux though.

the power button is an adjustable thing - you can bring back the option for powering down the phone if you like as well as specify what a double click of the side button does - thats been there from one UI 6.1 already so i cant see where you are having a problem - it takes a 30 second adjustment to make the gemini opening up a thing of the past

look under : Settings => Advanced features => side button

Already sorted thanks.

Don't know. My phone has always been slow and laggy A25. Worst phone I've ever owned in terms of performance. I'll probably go back to Xiaomi and then moan about hardware issues and adverts. But Samsung is way overrated.

Pretty sure their flagship phones are worth it, but then I'll just get an iPhone which is far superior.

You got an entry level phone and moan about Samsung? Entry level is entry level, doesn't matter the brand name.
This applies to TVs, phones, audio etc. Xiaomi used to be decent quality for price but for that same price a bigger brand charged more for their entry level.

Yet a Xiaomi at the same price is twice the performance?

Nah, I just followed the excellent advice on this forum who all said it is great bang for buck compared to Xiaomi.

I should have gotten a second hand iPhone like @Smiggles :p

I'm not sure if a R4k Xiaomi would be twice the performance anymore, maybe a few years ago.
But yes as I said it doesn't matter what the brand charges for an entry level, it's all an entry level device. You buy an entry level LG it'll still be crap, but LG charges you what a better TCL would cost.
That's why Xiaomi did so well for so long as it was great price, great device, but in the last couple of years it's been same device pretty much until you start going up higher.

I guess so.... Would be a nice backup phone if I can get my Redmi Note 9S working again. Can't believe a 5 year old phone is so much faster.

Well the A25 is 2023 so 3 years, but it's like saying I can't believe a 2020 Chery Tiggo 4 is faster than a 2023 Polo Vivo.
It is really astounding how people still can't comprehend what entry level means.

More a realisation how little value our money has.

you are aware about the history of Xiaomi ...... ever since my note 4 i was a member of the Xiaomi forum - and there were loads of links to how the company started ..... it is a fact that they were more concerned about spreading MIUI and their other software that they charged for instead of for the phone hardware which is why they basically started of only making around a 5% markup on the actual handsets which is why their phones were always so cheap

nowadays though they are letting market forces dictate their handset pricing so expect them to be very close in terms of megahertz to megahertz when it comes to the hardware nowadays

Samsung is also traditionally slightly overpriced because they generally made phones that were more stable and reliable than the competitors besides for the famous "burning and exploding battery" models - in the earlier days Xiaomi had endless software problems with MIUI even though they were actually ostensibly a software company - the updates (especially security updates) were almost non existent ..... im not sure how they are now

i don't know who told you that Samsung would be great bang for the buck compared to Xiaomi because it was Xiaomi that was traditionally a bang for the buck maker who lived on making profits on other things besides phones and Samsung if compared to similar hardware specifications would always be more expensive (true in the past in a big way BUT still true now albeit by a smaller margin)

Xiaomi never made phones that could match the "best of the best" from any other brand though whatever they did make was always superb value for money even with living through the (mostly solvable) issues that plagued them - i think that they still make good phones though many people get irritated by the minor issues that crop up from time to time - but i reckon that every brand will have some niggles and issues somewhere along the line (including Apple) ...... That said ..... even after using Samsung which satisfied me in some ways and disappointed me big time in many other ways i would still chose an S25 Ultra instead of a Iphone promax 16 ..... it remains to be seen how the iphone promax 17 and the S26 ultra compare when they are launched but as i'm going along with my daily usage of my Samsung phone i'm beginning to appreciate how much better it is than the iphone in many ways (and conversely how sadly poor it is in other ways compared to the iphones) right now IMHO there is no one perfect phone - you will always like certain features from one phone and then alternative features from the opposing brand and i also wish that either of those phones could have Xiaomis top camera's and battery tech and charger tech so that all phones could be charged from totally flat to 100% full in less than 20 minutes ..... IMHO the best phone for anyone to use is the one where they can live with the compromises that each particular brand makes

I forgot to post an update.

I reset my phone a week or two back and it's MUCH better.

It's not as fast and responsive as it was before one UI 7, but the difference is so minor, so it could just be me judging poorly.

Switching apps and using the fingerprint reader (when screen is off) is not so great, perhaps worse overall. Everything else is ok.
