Found this:*Go to
Menu/Smart Features/Samsung Account (need to scroll past Clear viewing history)/Edit profile and untick Contact Preference.

Speed improvements/etc....or slower/nerfed features?
I can't find a log anywhere.
 
Ok Upgraded... not much new except the page that had skype and youtube videos is now a page full of youtube stuff only.
 
Geewhizz. Anyone know how to get rid of that pop up at the top of the screen about some service ending on 1 April?

I followed the instructions either on this page or some other thread but doesn't seem to have worked.

Yassis these messages are irritating... came to this thread to find that post you are talking about. you sure it doesn't work?
 
my old LG Plasma seems to have died (suspect lighting damage , power shows on but does not want to switch the panel on from standby) , thinking of getting the non-smart version as I don't need all the functionality , would the 51F4000 model be the same without the Wifi etc ? TIA

*edit* Oh yes forgot to add , don't need Full HD as my viewing distance is 4m+ , and also 3D to me a gimmick , did some more googling and seems this is the Series 4 version been looking for a Non Smart series 5 version seems it does not exist ?

Maybe I should get a 60" LG Plasma see they sub R10k now :)

Just check if that LG have enough HDMI ports. Can't remember if it has only 1 or 2.

Getting confusing results on the 60PN6500 , OK Furniture has it for under R10k now , but the ad says 2HDMI on the website title says 2 HDMI but Description says 1 HDMI , guess will have to go make a turn and see for myself..... happy days ....

I saw a LG 60" plasma at House and Home over the weekend which had only 1. I can not remember which model.

If the one you see have 2, please let me know as I may be interested.
 
LOL correct @PostmanPot not too phased about the outputs , my original LG 50" PG30R got hit by lightning and I can not find it anywhere or the PS51F5500 for that matter (shop keepers look at me funny when I ask "Where are your plasma TV's" :p) so 60 " it is .... see there is a dedicated AVS Forum thread on this as well , OK *hijack off*
 
Long shot.....but anyway:

Anyone keen to trade this TV (PS51F5500) for an LED TV?

Looking for an equally spec'd one (# of hdmi, usb) but would need to be a great quality in a Samsung or LG brand range.

Further long shot: trade for one of those 50" curved babies that went on sale at Dion Wired?

Switching off Eskom next week and trying to reduce power consumption requirements wherever I can.

Hi

Anyone having trouble with their PS51F5500?

This is now the third time this TV has broken (in addition to the remote not functioning from the start).
First the Remote Control was replaced - September 2013
Then the Power Supply was replaced - September 2013
After that the Processor was replaced - June 2014
And last night the Screen popped!

I'm completely shocked at the quality of the product..

I regret to announce Samsung "PS51F5500" Plasma passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, September 14th, 2020. Beloved and devoted entertainer of our family home for 7 years. PS51F5500 shall be dearly missed by young and old.

RIP :crying:

The search is now on to find a worthy successor
