Could anyone with the 55" model provide the dimensions of the stand for the Q70T. Apparently the 55" comes with a center stand I can't seem to find any detail on the size of the stand itself. I'm particularly interested in the length of the base as well as the distance from the left and right edges to where the left and right size of the base starts as that will determine if the TV will fit on top of my entertainment unit.

I need to find out the actual distance from the left edge of the screen to the right edge of the foot of the stand. Best I can calculate it is as 98.1cm.
I don't get what you actually want. If you want the TV on a unit like this, without the stand protruding, then the unit must be at least 73,2cmX26,4cm

My unit has an odd shelf on the left side of the unit which protrudes over the top and cuts down on the space available. The TV can extend over the side on the right, but not on the left (blocked by shelf). So the left edge of the screen up to the right edge of the base needs to fit into the space. So I need to find out distance from the left edge of screen until where the base ends.

Not sure if I'm explaining well enough.

You think 55Q70T is a good deal at R12999 ? Going to look at it today and I might buy it if it looks good. Not sure about price though?

Anyone knows if the 55Q80T will be on special? Should I rather go for the Q80T instead of the Q70T?

Was the 55Q60T not on special at Takealot last week also for R12999?

You can't find any stock of the 55" Q80T and it normally goes for R22-24k. 65" Q80T is on special for R27k.

For me the Q70T seems to be the cheapest 120Hz TV I could find. Mine will only get to me in 7-9 days. So not sure if gamble will pay off. Compared to Q60T at the same price it's a steal.

Hi everyone,

I’m pretty much stuck between the q70t and the Sony X800H. With the current specials they are both going for R12999.

I’m leaning towards the Sony, which I know is an IPS panel. Everywhere says that IPS is good for bright rooms and large viewing angles whereas VA is good for dark home cinemas due to its superior contrast.

My TV will go in a well lit living room but I sit directly in front of it. Wondering if anyone has had experience with IPS panels and if in practice their poor contrast is actually noticeable compared to VA panels in a well lit room.

I also notice that the q80t does not have dolby vision. With TVs in this price range will DV even be noticeable compared to normal HDR?

The Sony being an Android tv really makes it appealing since there’s native access to google play store and the ability to load apps such as Kodi directly onto the TV.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The Q70T is a far better tv. I have no issue on viewing angles at home. Go to the store and view your self.

No samsung has Dolby vision, if that is what you want better look anywhere but samsung. As for IPS vs VA most people say IPS looks lot duller with weaker contrasts, but better viewing angles as you sit in front of the TV I'd recommend a bright va model.

Thanks for your replies. I really appreciate it.

xcaliber - I wanted to view them all side by side but no store has them both in stock so it's difficult to evaluate them against each other. If I may ask - why do you say the Q70T is much better? Is this due to the better contrast ratio?

missingchapters - I know no Samsung has DV, but I was just wondering if it's possible to even see the difference between DV and no DV with this class of TV. It doesn't make sense to me to buy something labelled as Dolby Vision when I can't even tell the difference. I know currently Netflix and Amazon prime has more DV support compared to HDR10+.

Length of base is roughly 74,5cm with 24,5 cm to either side from the base.

Thanks. So that's about 99 cm which means that, as I expected, my entertainment unit will be 10cm too short. Looks like wall mounting will be the best option then.

I ordered the Barkan Fixed Wall mount together with the TV. Anyone have experience with them? And will it come with all the bolts and pieces to attach the TV? It says it can handle up to 400x400 mounting holes, so should work with the 200x200 VESA on the Q70T right?
