Samsung UA50F5000

When you say motion handling? What do you mean?

Let's say you have a Mede8er connected playing a song with the artist and title floating around the screen. The letters 'artefact'/jitter quite badly as it moves around.

I'm probably just more used to plasma which has a more fluid motion. General media on this TV also suffers from motion handling issues. It's not a model issue, it's a general LCD issue.

I'm not saying you would notice this or be affected by this. You love your LCD, so I'm sure you will love these ones. I'm just a bit more anal, I like quality video and audio, so plasma does it for me, because it is still tops for video quality.

A bit unrelated, SD quality is also better on plasma, even FHD, because as Keeper has pointed to in the past, all the colours blend in better. LCDs have a more pronounced 'blockiness' when it comes to SD.

the PS51F4000 and PS51F4500 are *exactly* the same, except for the vertical resolution which is 768 instead of 480.
- Spec Comparison -

I would do that if the price isn't TOO much more. I don't see the F4500 on guzzle, where do you see it and for what price?

The 4500 is from Rectron, 5999 ex vat
But now looking at that LED 51 , that looks so much better but again, no wireless and no 3D

Interesting, I did not know that.
Thanks. Maybe I have been wrong all along :D

I do but to be fair its a plasma from 2002. Its ancient. It actually works ok. No issues.
So is there a decent 51 Plasma with wireless and 3D? At a steal? :D

PS51F5500 will be about R7,200 ex cost price. It has either has built-in wifi, or has the option to add a dongle.

Keeper?

Marine, if you really want a beast of a TV, do what postman pot said on page 1 - get the PS51F5500

This one is a Plasma, 51 inches, FULL HD, SMART TV, Voice Control, Touch Screen Remote, has Plex, and WIFI, and 3D, including 2 pairs of 3D Glasses.
It's R8999 though... so R3k more than the 40 inch 3D LED, or the non-3d, non-smart, non-hd, non-wifi F4000 plasma.

So yeah, R3k more, but with ALL the bells and whistles.

I don't know your budget, but if you can squeeze some extra money out somewhere (eat canned beans for a week or something, lol) you won't be disappointment with it.

Well I got a R2000 discount from R11,000 down to R9000 at Game not 2 weeks ago.

If I could get it for R7200, I would do that without blinking. If Marine can get it at that price he should definitely do that, 7.2K is day light robbery! :p

Awesome sound advice thanks guys, you both make a great deal of sense. So thats the best price hey? Tie to hit a cash in transit

Best price for the PS51F5500 is R8999 at Makro (It seems they have another special on it until the 24th, otherwise it would have been R10K at Makro/R11K at Game)

Where are you getting these low prices Marine? Rectron? Can you really get it for R7200 there?

UA50F5000 for R6100 is also an excellent price, so if your room is really really bright it might still be the better option for you.
I prefer plasma though.

I was also at Hifi Corp yesterday and saw a 3D Samsung LED with some Demo glasses mounted to a pole thing, and I gotta say, not impressed... it doesn't pop. it almost looks 2D.
My Plasma's 3D is a lot better (Better Depth), even when I play a NON-3D movie in 3D using the 2D>3D Option.

It might not have been LED's fault, it might have been something else.... but I can only guess it's the LED (any guesses from you guys?)

Hey guys that R7200 is ex vat yes rectron so that's not a great deal.
I think to be honest the 3D is a bit of a waste I hardly use it.
I guess size + wireless is a main thing for me.
Didn't want to spend so much lol

If Size is a priority, and 3D is not, then I would say get the PS51F4000. (or 4500 of course)
Not Full HD though, and no wifi.

Why don't you just use a lan cable? Mine has Wifi and I still got a cable - it's just better for 1080p stuff (No transcoding, so no quality loss - no "hiccups", and also instant FF/RW - no 3-4 second waiting)

Otherwise the UA40F5500 - it has wifi, but then it's 40 inches. I'd rather lay cable and get a 51" plasma than have wifi on a 40" LED.

Edit: I also didn't give a crap about 3D in a home setup, I bought the F5500 over the F4000 because it's Full HD, and is a smart TV with a cool remote... but the 3D really is awesome.
I always thought the 3D looked crap in all the shops I went to, with the demo 3D glasses... but this one really does an excellent job.
The most surprising feature is how well it converts 2D movies to 3D (in realtime) - that totally blew me away.

It was the LAST feature I checked out a few days after the TV was installed, and the one I like the most. (I didn't believe it could be done, just not possible!)
You don't even need to download/rent 3D Blurays or need to buy a 3D bluray player... all your movies just become 3D!
