Hey~

Want to get a new monitor..

Don't know whether to go LED or LCD.. I currently have a 23" LG monitor, LCD.. But want to give a bigger monitor a try..

Want to know what you guys think between:

B2430H LCD and then BX3450 LED

I read a few reviews, but they'll good about them..

(Since I heard that samsung is a good monitor brand.. )

I sould say LED, don't be surprised if the very informed friends over here tell you to go for another brand :D...they tend to get carried away however very useful...

LED is just the backlight(s). It's still an LCD, doesn't mean anything in relation to picture quality.
Also, ignore dynamic contrast figures. Dynamic contrast is horrible.

Haha, I see..

I thought of trying out LED :P

Jumping from 23" to 24"? You sure that's worth the money? Unless of course the current monitor isn't fulle hd..

Well.. mm Yeah I know it's kind of like a waste of money..

At first I was going for the HDMI, because I am thinking of getting an N8, and it has a HDMI out-put which the monitor (23") I have now doesn't have .. [only D-sub]

But then.. I was thinking, in long terms wise, isn't it just better to get a LED monitor?

Yeah.. it's just thinner and stuff..

I would also what to know.. The LED monitor has 2 MS response rate, and the LCD has 5MS.. I'm assuming that the higher, the better?

And what is that ms rate thingy anyway?

How long it takes the monitor to display the image. Anything less than 10 or so is not worth worrying about.
Higher than that can be bad for gaming and cause 'ghosting'.

^ Refresh rate

LED gives better "light", so seems brighter.

the ms thingy is how quick the display changes color from black to black (most modern displays are measured grey to grey but no noticeable difference to he human eye). As stated above, anything below 10ms is fine. 2ms being the best, and the lower the better. LDC's doesn't have a refresh rate. :)

No... lower response rate is better (faster). Go for the LED, you won't be unhappy.

So 2 is better than 5?
Takes less time to refresh image?

I see..

Just want to know something..

So say if the sun was behind me.. Will it be better having a LED than a LCD? Or is it just going to be the same?

I think I understand..

Thanks

Oh I see..

Great..

As in go for LED otherwise I won't be happy?

So basically LED is just better lighting.. and anything else?

The texture/glossiness of the monitor would have a far greater effect than what type of backlighting it has.
