Sansung P2770H backlight bleed!?

Howdy,

I just received my Samsung P2770H monitor from Take2, and man is the backlight bleed bad!!
The problem is highly noticeable and distracting on the left and right and worst on the top edge, and it's not just a fine line of glow. Anything with black to represent and it just sticks out right in your face. I can't watch movies or game like this.

My 2333SW in comparison has nothing remotely similar, good thing I haven't sold it yet.

Anybody have similar problems?.. I'm trying to get a reply from them on how to go about getting a replacement or different model (BX2450?) atm..

I've tried calibrating the settings, but to no avail.
 
dude I had one of these puppies... Wasnt impressed at all compared to my trusty T260 :love:

I got rid of it and got another T260

:)
 
This is just one of those reasons why you shouldn't get a TN panel for anything larger than 23"...

Recently quite a few people (on forum.twilightgaming.co.za) bought that exact screen and it didn't seem like any of them had it quite as bad as you since none of them mentioned any problems.

Seriously, it's bad!

Is it just a few of them that are like this? I can't imagine anyone accepting it if it's fairly common with the model!?

Man, ..if they give me the option I suppose I'll have to go with the BX2450 or something, no idea how long it would take for a T260 to pop up in the classifieds, if ever..

This sucks major ball :( Was my 30th birthday present to myself :(
 
Agh shizer, I was considering getting this monitor myself. Its between this and the BX2450, I had pretty much decided to get the P2770H, but after reading this post, Im not so sure anymore. cr@p.

Any idea about the BX2450? I'll settle for 24" if I must, but then bleed has to be at least as minimal as my 2333SW.

So bummed, ya know, you do all the research etc. and tada you get a lemon..

I have a BX2450, nothing but a pleasure to look at :) Wasn't impressed when I saw the P2770H initially, only the screen size.
 
Not sure what you guys complaining about. Maybe you got a defect! I have had mine for just over 4 months now and have no problems with it! This is a beautifull monitor and a pleasure to work on and watch movies!

Well hopefully, because other than that I like it a lot.
 
Dont game in a dark room, its not good for your eyes. I have the P2770H and I game in a room with the lights on, the screen is awesome.
 
Yeah, I've had mine for just under a year now and I'm pretty happy with it. Gamed and watched movies on it via PS3, then it was a PC monitor for a while and now it's in my bedroom hooked up to my media player.

Plenty of light in here. It's the same room the 2333SW was in.

Honestly, it's just clearly framed by bleed on each side, bottom too actually, slightly off-centre to the right.

How do you determine if it's excessive enough? I'm not too happy with my back-light bleeding (B2330, bought it September 2010), but I kind of accepted it since I thought I had no chance of a swop-out. Do I contact Samsung directly or take the screen to a Samsung repair point like CRT (Computer Repair Technologies) in Cape Town?

Post pics for everyone to compare. I can notice excessive back-light bleeding any time.

Straight to CRT, awesome place.
 
I have the same screen, but i dont notice funny things, what exactly is black light bleed? is there a picture that can demonstrate this problem so that i can see if i have it?
 
I'll try take pics of mine later, ..perhaps I'm overreacting, but all I know was I switched over to it directly from the 2333SW within a matter of minutes, and as soon as I opened up a movie and game, I was acutely aware of the bleed-framing of the screen (good colours and everything else etc., although the red led menu won't disappear). Nothing even close appeared on the 23".

Now if this is just a caveat for large TN-Panels, fair enough (providing they make note of it in the description), but I simply can't believe that if this is normal, that no one mentioned it, even casually, in their reviews. I mean I don't have wonder-vision or anything..

Backlight bleed, google it, it's easier than trying to explain it.

You can set the light intensity on the settings LED's to make them quite dull or off, if you like.
