SARS 2010 returns turn-around time.

2 days and a bit, filed tuesday afternoon - got lots of sms and emails this morning and when I logged on to internet banking, the money was there

I filed Wednesday night at approx. 7:30pm, just got bank sms to indicate money has been deposited into my account!

Under 36hours!

Just got my final documents - so its 10 working days from time of submitting to being finalized when supporting documents are required.

Submitted mine on the 4th, got a request for supporting docs on the 6th, submitted supporting docs on the 6th, now still waiting.
I got my initial assessment from them on the 6th, which agrees with mine, but is pending until supporting documents have been verified. I guess here it is a bit of luck of the draw because it depends how busy they are....a human actually physically needs to check it.

I was actually quite surprised they agreed to call of mine - I was not expecting them to agree with my vehicle expense claims on the S2000, I could have almost bought another one on the amount I spent last year.

New roof, 2 sets of tyres, clutch replaced twice, bumper resprayed twice, etc. etc,.

Damn ... SARS is still processing my company's documents. That means that their is no data about my tax payments on their site yet.

Had I just filled that in manually and faxed them supporting docs on the 1st I would have been refunded already! Now, I am not sure if I should wait for them to populate my form or if I should just fill it in manually. One the one hand the manual way could mean that I wait around 2 weeks and on the other hand they could take MUCH longer to finish uploading the information that the accountants sent them.

:wtf::confused::mad:

Filed my return on Sunday night, Monday morning the statement of account was complete and Tuesday i was paid my refund.
If only the rest of government was as efficient as SARS!

Filed on the even of the 8th of July and the refund was free and clear in my bank account the evening of the 9th of July. So less than 24 hours and more important - within One Business Day. That is pretty efficient.

Quick Question

What Price of the vehicle do you put in

they ask for cost price or cash value of the vehicle..

1. Do I put in the original price I paid 3 years back when I bought the car?
2. Market value currently (say insured amount?)

I filled in my forms manually (from info in my IRP5) on Tuesday 20 July, received a Statement of Account and a SARS IT Assessment (IT34) on Monday 26 July. How do I know if they require supporting documentation? The forms say that I have not been selected for an audit. I've still not received my refund. :)

I submitted on the 7th, got notice of assessment on Friday the 9th, along with an audit. Grr.
You're not able to submit your docs over the weekend, so did it on Monday 12th, received my large payout in my account the following Monday, the 19th.. and received the notice of payment via snailmail. Odd since I receive every other notice via email/sms. *shrug*

Filed via e-filing Monday 26th, got paid today 28th....drinks is on me...gotta love SARS
