My colleague says he hasn't had a tax return paid out to him for years now, although he does submit it yearly.
He's been to SARS every year, and they tell him that it has been sorted, and each time they give him a timeframe of 7 to 21 working days before it will be fully sorted, yet it just never happens.
Understandably he's fed up now with taking a day off work every time to wait in SARS' queues with no results despite their promises. They just say "it's a glitch on your account". Surely this isn't fair on him.
What steps are there to escalate something like this? They probably owe him over 50k now in total.
This is the only error he gets, nothing more descriptive unfortunately:

I had that same message for three months. Turned out I changed my bank details and they needed to be verified, but it took over a dozen queries to get that answer.
Took all documents to a SARS office and got sorted quick quick.
hmm
When I open it in acrobat (not chrome), I see they still say they owe me some bucks. So I guess no refund yet.
Finally - refund date on Statement of Account showing as 11 July. About time.![]()
Hi all. I spoke with a very helpful agent this morning. You don't need to go into a branch. But there is an additional place you need to ensure you update.
That is under the home tab, then manage SARS info, or something like that, don't remember the exact wording. They have said I will have my money tomorrow.
Update what exactly? There are numerous fields that you can update on there.
So I filed on the 1st.
Got request to submit documents for review the same day. Uploaded them within the hour.
On the 5th I got the completion letter.
Today at 19:00 got another request to submit supporting documents. Will call them tomorrow to see what is still outstanding...
Sorry, my bank account details. So, even though I updated them during my actual submission of my return, I still needed to do it in this other place, which they don't tell you about.
Checked mine this morning and it still wasn't zero ... just checked now and it IS!!! My munny is on its way![]()
stop compl..... oh, nevermind
