It's a totally new thing, if changing ANY details one has to go into branch for fingerprint to be taken and stuff.
There has been some conflicting messages from SARS/Media on this.
I changed my email address and my fax number (for what it is worth), and I did not have to visit a SARS branch.
My understanding is that if you change your ID number, Registration number and your bank details you need to visit a SARS Branch.
Change in address and contact details can still be done via e-filing with no need to visit a SARS branch (?). Maybe someone on here who has done this can confirm
