I lodged a dispute (NOO) with all supporting documentation on efiling on 4th July 2017 i.c.w. my RA contributions in the 2016 tax year that were carried forward and where only R1 was brought forward to the 2017 tax year. Have heard nothing yet. SARS told me it takes up to up to 60 working days - 3 months to action the dispute! I find this disconcerting as it is their error and is quite straight forward to resolve! Have there been any other experiences by forum members i.c.w. resolution of this topic with SARS? How long does it normally take for a dispute like this to be actioned?
NOO due to incorrect RA carry forward lodged via efiling on 4.7.2017 - new assessment and NOO letter issued on 21.7.2017 by SARS on efiling. SARS corrections were spot on! Quick turnaround from SARS:).

Will I recieve a letter (email) from SARS when the verification is completed, or will I have to check everyday on efiling if they are done?

You will get a notification that you have a letter waiting. Usually both sms and email.

Didn't get good news from SARS so far..
SARS eFiling Administrative Penalty Assessment Notice
ITR12 Non-Submission 2008 & 2010

Did you submit for these years?

Been going around and around with them since 2015 for 2010/11/12... which I did submit.

So got audited and for the first time I had to prove I've paying for my RA by submitting bank statements.
On the plus side, the Randburg SARS office experience went well - got my number, waited around 15 minutes before getting called up, hopefully all is good.

Submitted this morning. Original assessment was nice, up 4K from last year to just under 30K. Only this year they audited me.

Nervous about this as its the first time they are auditing me since I got the disability forms done for my daughter. Last year I submitted the disability claim and they paid out no issue without an audit. This time they wanted all my docs. Sent it off and will see what happens.

I do think SARS is struggling. The political crises there is insane. Had a mate who worked there for years leave recently and he said the skills exodus is insane under the new SARS head. Serious shenanigans going on there with the Hawks being pulled in to find dirt on Pravin Gordan etc. Employees where literally being monitored via wire tap and having hawks go through their emails secretly. So I do think the standards of SARS are plummeting due to the exodus.

I was one of the early returnees and received my refund very promptly.

Went and rechecked my IT34a and found the re-assessment... All good, except that they refunded me too much and I now owe them R0,26.

So I went from SARS owing me the usual amount to me owing them more than a month's salary!

Seems they invalidated my travel claims again...happened last year and when I resubmitted the exact same documents they accepted it.

Always a struggle...I'm starting to think that I should give up doing it myself as the stress of dealing with their ineptitude isn't worth it.

Anyone that can recommend a good tax practitioner in the PE area?

You have to keep records for 5 years for returns that were submitted.

Returns that have not been submitted does not prescribe

I am confused that this can be a business rule - you know that you have submitted all your returns for say the past ten years therefore you delete those older than 5 years. Then SARS inform you that you have not submitted a return six years ago - what do you then do?.
