Ok, I went and see a tax practioner. He looked and said I did the right thing the 1st time. They want them to put in the max amount.
Old man usually got R2000.00 back, now got R20 000.00 back. I think I leave it as is, and see what happens. I ignore the money in my bank account for the time being, wife could hold on to her smile a while longer.

If this holds, who knows maybe somebody challenged their method of medical aid calculations with all last years problems, and its a secret way of correction of last few years, of which nobody speaks, it just happens.
However, its an old "Too Good To Be True" rule overstepped.

Audit done. They are not adjusting the initial assessment which is a relief so it seems they are happy with my docs disability forms. A nice boost to my medical savings is now due. Hope it hits my account soon.

Yeah in my case initial assessment left out my RA accumulation from last year.

Second assessment then included it so got more money.

Was very confusing as I initially thought they had paid me twice by mistake.

Just goes to show don't jump to submit first, rather wait till August and then get it in.

Got the money paid out. That was faster than expected. So I filed my return on July 24. Got audited, submitted docs next day, and they completed the audit and paid out in just under a month. Not too bad actually.

Sweet, just got verification completed letter, now to wait for payout.

I swear I think folks are correct about them being broke, taken them ages and they only action at month end.

Ok, went to see SARS today. At 1st the agent said everything is ok, but then she noticed a correction filed, I told her I did that before I was paid out the larger amount than expected. She then looked deeper and said the correction I made was correct and I must pay back X-amount, could not explained the hasty payout.
The tax practisioner was wrong.
What confused me was my status for the correction changed from" submitted" to "Not Requested" after large payment. Not REquested sounded like they was happy with the 1st entry and does not want/ignored the 2nd entry(correction) according to info they received from companies involved.

You can only claim tax with Medical Aid subsidy if you paid tax with income on the subsidy, ok I understand this.

Well it seems:
1-SARS backbone in SARS, ok.
2-SARS Physical agents(Visiting a branch), is as near as SARS you will get.
3-SARS Call centre agents are somewhat remote, cannot see and do all to solve all issues.
4-E-Filing is not SARS, but rather a link from you to SARS.
I have one e-mail address and two cellphone numbers...Cellphone A=I use only for bank notices and E-Filing/(SARS). Cellphone B=I use for talking to others as well as entered on ITR12 as a number with Landline. Cellphone B is entered on SARS backbone, like banking details.

>If I get a notice from E-Filing, i get SMS on cellphone=A & E-Mail.
>If I get a notice from SARS itself, like last year when audited, I get SMS on cellphone-B & E-Mail, never on landline. Last year when audited for banking details, I received seperate communications to the cellphones from SARS & E-Filing like out of sync not 100% related in time.
If I gave only one cellphone for SARS & E-Filing, I would not have noticed the difference.
Example last year: After I visited the branch with changed banking details(Bank branch changed, not account number)-(After I waited in vain for E-Filing to tell me to visit branch, just no payout coming forth, waited 3-Weeks, the CAll Cetre said I must visit branch.
After visiting the branch, they assured me everything settled, no problem.
>>Then I get notice/SMS from E-filing to visit branch(Again-?). I phone CAll Centre, they confirm I must visit branch(Again-?), as if I was never there.

At this stage I decided to ignore this and wait. Surely the payment came as well as completion from SARS, E-Filing left behind in the dust.
Now some people at this stage went to the branch again, maybe that resetted the process and they waited much longer to get paid out(Ignore those with real problems).

Submitted NOO on 21 July 2017, received the revised assessment today but it seems they calculated that they owe me R4k more than my calcs showed.

I thought back and this is actually the amount they never paid me last year that carried over - so a nice little bonus upon a bonus - score :)

Paraphrasing myself but since SARS paid me this morning I have another Q.

I think it may be easier to explain it in a timeline format:

1) I completed my SARS return, said they owe me X
2) Selected for verification, they said I owe them X + Y
3) Disputed and uploaded more doccies, they still said I owe them X + Y
4) Submitted NOO, it came back with them saying they now owe me X + Y
5) Refund is in my account, but it is only the original amount of X

Would the balance of Y - X be carried across to next year or am I missing something?

Same story here:

1. My calculations says they owe me R30000. Got audited
2. They throw out all my rental expenses and says I owe them R24000
3. Got paid the difference into my account R6000
4. File NOO on 28/08
5. Status on their website still says NOO has been sent. So I'm assuming this NOO is still to be completed as I'm not done fighting yet.

I finally submitted today and received my assessment immediately.

Another year of no income tax due and as a bonus for the first time in years I am not being audited- which is a huge surprise since I thought it would just be automatic.

Retirement Annuities and their tax benefits...

I had x amount that was due to me from SARS and it had a minus in front of the x amount. Today it says 0 - does that mean my refund is in process or paid??
