Mine also took exactly 21 working days now in just waiting for payout... Its day 2 now. How long did you have to wait?

I got my completion letter on 26 October (submitted my docs on 28 Sept) and my refund arrived in my bank account on 31 Oct.

Does the following mean that if one has dependents (such as a elderly parent) that one would get a tax deduction for having their medical aid and other medical expenses deducted from one's bank account?

What if the debit order is on their account but they are financially dependent on you?

I am still waiting for my 2014 returns. The website states "Manual intervention must be applied" or something like that.

Easy Equites and Tax return

Excuse me if this has been asked before, but this thread is too long to read through the whole thing. I need some advise with my tax return and investments.
I have investments with EASY EQUITIES. Got my tax certificate from their website but the form is so damn confusing. I don't know what goes where on my tax return. I have some tax free investments and a normal investment. Can someone please explain what some of the columns refer to on my Easy Equities tax certificate?

Small Medical claims

Hi

is it worth it to claim a small amount of medical expenditure (after medical aid was finished|) for the year, talking around R3000. what sort of return would you get on this amount?

Anyone else get the below that can tell me how long it took for them to finalise?

Dear Taxpayer

VERIFICATION OF INCOME TAX RETURN

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) thanks you for submitting the income tax return for the 2017 tax period.

Please note that the income tax return has been identified for verification in terms of the Tax Administration Act. Any refund due may be withheld, pending finalisation of this process.

In the accompanying Notice of Assessment (ITA34) you will find all the information which SARS captured from the return. Please review this information against the relevant material. If you find any errors, correct these by submitting a revised income tax return via eFiling or at your nearest branch.

Alternatively, please submit copies of the relevant material to SARS for review:

- IRP5/IT3(a) employee income tax certificates in respect of remuneration income and lump sums from your employer/pension fund
- IT3 certificates (for example IT3(b) and (c)'s from financial institutions in respect of interest and capital gains)
- Medical scheme certificates and receipts
- Income Protection and retirement annuity certificates
- Your travel logbook and/or invoices or detailed calculation in respect of travel claims
- Any other documents relevant to your declaration.

When submitting the relevant material, enclose this original letter as it contains a unique bar-coded reference which links it to your income tax account with SARS. A photocopy of this letter will not be accepted by SARS. You may however make a copy of this letter for your records.

My experience is that you'll get a final assessment or further correspondence 21 working days (pretty much a calendar month) after you've submitted your documentation.

You need to login on efiling, go to your tax return and submit supporting documents such as IRP5, IT3, medical aid certificates, etc.

The document upload function only opens up if you received the above letter.

You will not receive confirmation that you submitted the documents. They will check the documents and only after the verification process will they inform you of the outcome.

Haha! Looks like they're playing the delay payout tactic with a few people....

Submitted all the documents I used to complete my submission - now we wait for someone to look through and see that I didn't lie and recorded everything I got on the form...

Side note, don't get why they can't just have a platform that all this info in just fed into SARS (like the IRP5 info)... surely this makes more sense.... okay wait, what is sense...

Indeed :)

I wonder if they will want documents submitted since I owe them money lol

Definitely not... they will want that cash in 12 hours, or face penalties... found a link on their site, can take between something like 30 to 60 business days to finalise.... oh okay, so if I owe you cash.. may take 30 to 60 business days to pay you ;)
