Statement from SARS:
TAX SEASON 2017 -
"It is important for taxpayers expecting a refund to note that SARS has this year implemented additional risk processes to ensure both the legitimacy and accuracy of the refunds paid. SARS has an obligation to both taxpayers as well as to the fiscus to ensure that fraudulent and invalid claims are stopped.
We are aware that taxpayers have an expectation that once they submit a return which results in a refund that this would be paid to them shortly thereafter. It must though be noted that such refunds can only be paid once all SARS processes have been concluded. SARS is committed to ensure that legitimate refunds are paid as soon as possible."

How long does it take for SARS to pay out a refund 2017 TAX season

Hi

I submitted my return on 3 July 2017 around midday. According to the IT34 i have not been selected for audit or verification and have an amount of about R17k due to me. How long should i wait for a refund? Its day 3 today. In the past i have received a payout in less than 3 days but has never been more than 8k.
 
eFiling refund

I'm in the fortunate position to be expecting a SARS refund this year. In the past the refund was paid almost immediately, but this year it seems to be taking quite a bit longer. I submitted my return (e-filing) on Monday and still no sign of the refund. Anyone else notice this delay too?
 
There is a SARS thread where this has been discussed at length.

Synopsis : Yes, it is taking longer than usual, congruent with a SARS statement that they're being extra vigilant.
 
Anyone Got SARS eFiling Returns yet?

Just wondering if anyone has got money back from SARS for this FY yet? I know submissions only opened 01 July 17.
I submitted mine on Monday 03 July, last 2 years they paid out within 24hrs?

SARS return payment

Hi,

My IRP5 reflects a PAYE of R64 222.03
Have just submitted my return to SARS
My return payment is 0.64c

How is this calculated?
