SARS E-Filing 2021/22

I still haven't received an auto-assessment. Should I be worried? Do I need to do anything?

My auto assessment for 2022 was incorrect, the amount they paid out was too small by a tenth. Filed a correction on 11 July 2022, was selected for verification, probably due to home office. Uploaded and submitted all supporting documentation on 18 July 2022. Today is 29 August 2022 and the case has not even been assigned to anyone yet. Poor service. Logged a complaint now with the details under the Services tab. Hoping it will result in some action to finalize the case.

Only got round to doing mine this week. Uploaded it all and for the first time in about 5 years I was not automatically selected for Audit. Still, its in status assessment received so they could still change their mind but hoping they just pay out.

Sars straight up removed my "Other expenses" tab

How do I get it back?

Same here - started assessment mid July, selected for audit and notified it would take +-21days...no movement on the assessment either!

"Blocked" from efiling-
After not having to do efiling for a few years, i tried to log in a while ago. It did not recognize my username any more. So i reregistered. Still shows pending. Time running out to pay provisional tax. Now i cannot log in to request a provisional tax form.
(Recently sold a house, CGT payable, once-off situation).

Should i just so long pay the due amount into Sars's provisional tax account, reference as-
Tax number ending P and then 00012023 ?
(I did calculate the amount due). Then split over two 6month- provisional periods. (Or all at once because sale of house happened in first halve of tax year?)

Well, got asked for docs last night. Just uploaded them. Now we wait and see.

Wow! I hope SARS doesn't add administrative penalties for not submitting your returns.

You do not need to pay provisional tax on CGT. In other words, if the only reason you're submitting a provisional tax return is because of CGT then you don't need to.

Thanks for the info.

Last few years i was not required to do annual tax returns because of financial position at the time. Now things have changed.

Do confirm with a professional though. I am not a tax practitioner. But from everything I've read and the advice I've received in previous tax years, CGT only appears to be payable on assessment, i.e. when you submit your actual income tax return.

This year was such a disaster for me. I did the initial submission with 2 deductions codes I added. They calculate I would get money back.

Then they audited me, and and sent a letter regarding one of the deductions and I realized I couldn't submit it. So I re-quested a correction, removed the 1 deduction and submitted and the stupid thing removed ALL my deductions.

So I logged a dispute saying I only wanted the 1 deduction type removed, not the 2nd.

I get a letter asking for supporting docs for Deduction 1. I write-back - saying I DONT WANT deduction 1 on the return, please add Deduction 2 as it was removed for some reason.

I get a system notice now its finalized after the dispute. With both deductions not on the list and I owe them money. lol
