SARS E-Filing 2021/22

What about Dr visits and blood tests that were needed for an operation (no msa only hospital plan) so paid cash and the person is retired? What can one do?
There is a nice 52 page guide from Sars that tells you everything regarding medical tax credits. It covers what expenses are allowed, how to calculate etc. There are actually 3 different categories depending on age and medical conditions.
Just search for "Guide on the Determination of Medical Tax Credits" and download it in pdf format.

Need to put this warning out there.
I was busy with the wife's itr. Saved it as I was looking for info on the RA.

Yesterday I logged in to find Sars had removed what I had done, created an auto assessment and fully submitted it. No approve or decline. The thing is they never included the RAs which had been on their system.
We now have to resubmit and basically dispute
After talking to my accountants, they said they are seeing this with multiple of their clients.
If you auto submitted go back and check.
This year you don't get an option to accept or reject the auto assessment. It is fully submitted and if it is wrong you only get 40 days to object.

This fiasco would have deprived the wife of r6k in refunds

Update on this.
We managed to get a new IT12 issued and submitted again.
Now just waiting for $

The numbers in the column is not a transaction code it is the transaction number. So for instance the number 16 is the 16th transaction. It doesn't meen that you submitted 16 returns it means that reqeusted 16 Statement of accounts. You will see the moment that your electronic refund shows on you SOA that transaction will then be 17.

I havent received any notification of an assessment as yet. Must I start to worry?

A friend at work submitted his last night and was paid this morning.

I submitted Monday night. Payment scheduled for 1 August......

I've got my own issue to deal with now. Assessment says I owe them 10k due to Travel Allowance being taxed which from what I've been advised, the source code is non-taxable.

Below SARS guideline provided to the payroll provider.

Submitted return on the 1st, no payment yet. Getting impatient, I checked statement of account. On 3 days there was a payment made, with immediate reversal for the same amount.

Called SARS this morning, they checked. They found a “stoppage”, and said that SARS is having issues with refunds right now, and I should wait 21 working days…

Everyone that submitted on the 1st having the same problems. Spoke with them this morning and they told me i dont need to submit anything...glitch in system and I should get refund within 72hrs. Apparently the system put blocks on all refunds where submission was the 1st July. Guess its a waiting game now

Pulled a new Statement of Account, I see payment date for tomorrow 09/07/2022 - So we will see.

I must be blind. Where does it show the payment date on the SOA? Thanks
On mine. It shows “Electronic Refund” under the transactions. And a date for tomorrow. With a balance now of R0.00.

Indicating that they don’t owe me any money since the refund has been processed and is now just awaiting payment I guess or release from the banks etc. that’s how I see it.
