SARS investigates Malema

Most possible excuse : "My bookkeeper did it."

"there is no word in Pedi for taxes"

But most probably politicial interference in SARS will cause the case to be dropped.

Malema has the wrong skin colour. It seems only white people who defraud the tax man get jail terms. I know of a person who got 4 years in jail with hardened criminals for defrauding VAT. Just flipping VAT, not sure of how much, only know he got 4 years for it, has a wife and kids at home and he sits in jail. To think people like Shaik who scams South Africa gets a get out of jail free card, I do not suspect very much else will happen to Malema other than a little misunderstanding and public apology.

Throw the c..t in jail. He is stealing from South Africa if he has not ever paid any tax.
He is such a typical a..eh..e who has no tact or class. Do not cast stones if you live in glass houses and in Malema's case it seems the fool hung himself fair and square. He could be enjoying his ill gotten gains away from the public eye, but instead he chose to open his fat trap about things like Nationalising the Mines for one and we have to live with the garbage left by this imbecile who hasn't a clue what he is talking about. So typical!!!! :mad::twisted:

Please, no jail time! If he gets jail time he is the next president for sure!

And if he gets fined, who is going to pay that fine? Himself? I highly doubt it.
 
Ah, JimmyJ will manage to come up with some excuse that will keep Malema as a hero in his eyes. Blind faith is a wonder aint it.

Some ANCYL supporters are going to be up in arms about how SARS has no right to investigate "his holiness" on the grounds that it's racism or some such tripe. And then SARS will drop the investigation "for lack of evidence" followed by a massive increase in support from the masses and a quick election to President. No I'm not psychic, I'm just going by what has happened in the past, remember Zuma?

Even if he did pay a bookkeeper to do his taxes and the bookkeeper failed to do it, Malema is still the one who owes the money and will be forced to pay fines etc.

He could then sue the bookkeeper for breach of contract, but the bookkeeper cannot be held liable for Malema's taxes.... SARS is pretty strict on this kinda thing.

He won't go to jail for tax evasion, but hopefully he will be forced to sell some of those cars/houses to pay the taxes and fines.

The worst outcome would be for Malema to get fined and then be given taxpayer money from the state to pay for the fines. That would just make me mad.
 
nobody is above the law, but this distraction from the critical reasoning of the nationalisation of mines is frustrating :mad:

Highly unlikely that the bookkeeper can be held liable by Malema for anything - unless there was gross negligence, and as you say, the taxes are still owed by him (Malema).

Then again, it seems he did receive a number of new tenders end of last year - so it shouldn't be a problem. It's not as if he has expenses or input costs on these tenders - apparently. :rolleyes:

To hell with mines nationalisation, Malema is stealing from the government by not paying his tax. He is crook, just like most of the ANC members. Hey Jimmyj, have YOU filed your tax forms ?

Which is why I think it will be interesting. Nowhere do I say that he definitely will be punished :erm: - although we can always hope :o. SARS is the most efficient government department I've ever encountered when they believe that you owe them money

But it seems that powers from above can persuade them to lose interest.

Which means that they are just as corrupt as everyone else !

Of course, they can prove me wrong by nailing J & J !
