I was recently scammed by an online shop. Where can one go for help? The police doesn't assist because they regard it as a 'voluntary transaction', insurance won't pay without a case number, people who have been scammed by the same company, have had limited success with the Consumer Ombudsman. Any other leads, apart from going to a lawyer (not accessible to most people)? Is there a separate police department which investigates scammers? Any advice would be appreciate, thank you!

Can't help but I only do online payments where they allow me to use my card to make the payment. Online stores that only have eft payments I avoid.

I was scammed twice in the last two years and every time just did a charge back request with my bank and the transactions were reversed in a few months.

Thank you, yes I learnt the hard way re. EFTs

They don't have a website...?
How did you buy from them?

Please describe the scam accurately, with dates, components and price. How was delivery promised. What have you done so far to reduce your loss?

I am aquainted with the folk who operate the business through a component supplier

What happened that you conclude the transaction was a scam?

You paid, then what happened?
