I recently upgraded my home theatre setup and ran into problems when trying to take my SD PVR picture through SCART instead of the normal analogue video out.
A bit more detail on my setup (audio is sorted so I'm ignoring audio on the summary):
Amp
--Two component inputs (DVD and PVR)
--One component output (to TV)
TV
--Component input (from AMP)
--AV
--HDMI (from Media player)
SD PVR
--Analogue Video Out (trying to avoid)
--SCART to TV (trying to do a scart to component conversion to connect to Amp in order to use just one input on TV)
--SCART to VCR (will not use)
The SCART to Component converter was bought at Zakspeed (about R160 if I recall correctly). It has the SCART connector on one end and six RCA's on the other end (three corresponds to the normal Red, Green, Blue component outs and the other three are for Audio L/R and Analogue Video). It has a switch to select which three outputs to use (the component set or the normal Audio L/R +Video set).
If I use the normal Audio L/R+Video set and connect the decoder to the TV on normal AV I get picture no problem. I have to select the AV input on the TV though (which I'm trying to avoid) and also get the normal video quality.
If I use the three component out's on the SCART connector I get no picture (regardless whether I take it through the Amp or directly to the TV). Playing around with the TV installation settings (SCART Output = RGB, Composite or SVideo) also makes no difference. My research on the internet led me to believe that this is a SD PVR limitation - it cant "modulate" (for the lack of my understanding) component signals through the SCART output (whilst it can do RGB, Composite and SVideo).
Please help me out here - I'm desperate to get this going!
Thanks
