So anyways i went to go my gillette blades, the green one that vibrates and i check this http://gearpatrol.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/schick-quattro-titanium-trimmer.jpg

So i go look for blades for it and find them and then i went to go look how much my gillete blades would cost for 4. The cost for the gillette blades 153.99 for 4

Cost of this razer 84.99 plus a box of 4 blades for 71.99 = R 156.98

Just thought i would mention it for people who buy gillette blades, i did not buy the titanium blades for the schick but those only cost 112 bucks for 4.

Have not tried it but i am sure it will be awesome.
 
The whole razor industry is a RIP off...

I'm in the process of trying to source a razor that uses Manora blades.. (if you can still get the blades), they're just so much cheaper iirc.
 
I still like a good old straight razor.

Won't chemists stock double edged safety razors (minora)?
 
I bought this exact one last week! I also decided to switch over from the gillette (The green 3 blade vibrating one) because of the price of the blades! Its ridiculous.

R160 for 4 blades vs R95 for 6.

As for the actual razor, I have only used it twice so far. The shave is different, you can feel the difference in blades immediately. It will take some getting used to, but they are not bad. These are 4 blades by the way compared to 3. The shave itself is pretty decent, although I wont judge just yet how it compares to the gillette, but I wasnt disappointed by it.

On the trimmer side, it seems quite powerful but I havent used it yet, since I cant really go to school with a beard unless I want to be sent to shave with these things that cut more flesh than hair!

But all in all, it looks good, seems to do a decent job but will need a few more shaves before I come to a final conclusion.
 
Same here. I still use Gilette blades, but my Mach 3 Turbo is standing looking pretty in the bathroom cupboard. I just can't afford the blades. My girlfriend and I use throw away Gilette razors now.

Toxicbunny, if you come right with getting that Minora razer, please let me know where you got it, I'd like to get one for myself.

Ponder what does this have to do with shaving bud?

This is about my experience and i wanted people to read it, i did not want people to have to look through a long thread. So take your link and well you know what you can do with it :D

Thanx justice, i bought it the same day day i shaved :( so i have to wait til monday haha grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I hate shaving with a dull blade. Every time I shave I sharpen the blade by running it backwards over the palm of my lathered hand (50 times or so, or 30 seconds), thus the blade never dulls. I use a single blade for 6 months plus; and it works fine....

Pick and Pay sell Schick Titanium disposable razors for R49.99, pack of 3.
Cheaper than buying the blades.

Haha - it used to be R34 for 4! Those are excellent though. Much better than Mach3 IMO. They stay sharp for ages! The mach3 starts dragging after about 4/5 good goes.

I had the opposite experience. Bought the Schick titanium last week and i must say i have never used a shaver that gave me so much cuts before (what is the thin wire protection for again?). The blad started to drag after 3 days and i have to shave over the same spot over and over again just to get a smooth shave. i will rather pay double for gilette.

wow, really?

Mach 5 vibrator works fine for me. blades last a fair time too.

Try it! I started doing it to ensure the blade was always sharp, and then realized that I never had to replace my blade (also never use hot water on a razor, it dulls quicker). A Mach 3 blade lasts ne a year....

Ok! Exactly how do you do it. Run in reverse shaving action on your palm?

Yikes i hope you are wrong :D, shaving in the morning.

At least i put the clippers to good use :p
