Perhaps the paper with mandarin on it was a fortune cookie saying 'good things come to those who wait (at the side of the road)'

Went with the MotoMia Java 170cc.
Total cost R11.1k
That includes a full face helmet, gloves, high vis jacket and a bike lock.

The Millano looked great, but all the chrome is plastic :crying:

We must now do a MyBB breakfast run! :D

Congrats! Post a picture if you can.

I would love to join a scooter club where members go on breakfast runs, etc. I've looked on SA Scooter's website, the Think Bike forums, etc. but there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity going on, most forum posts dating back to 2011, early 2012...if anybody knows of an active scooter club in the Gauteng area, let me know.

Otherwise we should just start to do informal gatherings from time to time!

The SA Scooter site itself is active enough - Already got plenty of info from there.

I doubt there's much happening in PE though, as usual, heh.

Auto Motorcycles in Heugh Road.

They are the only Sym dealership in town, which is why I went with them.

I've been reasonably happy with their service so far, although I do get the impression (as with most places), once the item is sold, the level of help and friendliness can easily decline...

Obviously, any future issues with the scooter will give me a better idea of their competency and ethics.

I actually had a read of a couple of reviews of that SYM brand. They seem decent. Which model did you buy?

As with any petrol device, make sure you are going to get spares.

a Friend had one, with a plastic gear that broken. At Nampo the agents were there and they said spares is no problem. He ordered it and is still waiting.
Do not trust the sales man.
Listen to the parts man.

To be honest, I am not even sure why I chose the Symply over another SYM model. It was a bit of an impulsive purchase at the end of the day.

Either way, it's getting me around, and aside from the bit of paper stuck in the air-intake pipe saga, it's been working great.

I got a Motomia Coretto 200cc for almost 2 years now and a few kms away from 25,000km. Only issue i have now is to replace the chain as it is getting in bad shape. only other issue i had was a lightbulb replacement and a rev counter not working. Those they fixed
for me at no charge.

I'm also starting look at scooters with the rising petrol price. Jeeze. 3 years ago I could fill my petrol tank in my small car for R300 - R350. Last night it cost just under R500.
