He takes a hard time and I reckon it's in no small part because of the relentless assassination of his character he's endured for so many years.

Shame, he's a Hearts fan as well ;)

AFAIK The Guardian is a center left(ish) liberal(ish) newspaper. They are very pro democracy. Are you confusing it with the Telegraph? :confused:

I think he always intended on being the Prime Minister of Scotland or a quieter job in the background.

Probably part of a negotiation on greater devolution - my guess is that we can expect an announcement of a review commission of some shape or form

Fair enough, but I just wonder, for how long Westminister shall drag out this process of additional devolution, they were clever not to give specifics before the ref!

Got an epic braai lined up on Sunday on the eve of my departure for desert climes. Unfortunately not the Namibian type of sand, bit the oil filled ones of the middle east.

So basically, I've got to ram as much pork and alcohol down my neck as possible before I arrive in Saudi in the wee small hours of next Saturday after a seven flight journey of Filious Fogg proportions starting on Tuesday evening.

But tonight is a child free evening at my favourite steak house and rib shack and Mrs S is driving as she knows she has to feed my emotional state after the disappointment of last night.

Chin chin old boy, what what.

I think Westminster knows they can't go into another General Election without a constitution for Scotland. The thing which a lot of guys aren't understanding is about 10% of the vote boils down to the cocking up of devolution - the stink of corruption in building the parliamentary complex propelled the SNR ["we want our Scotland, not Westminister in Edinburgh"] and its quite simple far to many niggly powers were devolved rather than using devolution as a means of building a "more perfect Union"

What you say is correct, but the same should apply to NI and Wales, and to an extent England.... a true Union of equal partners should be forged. This would make the UK a very very strong entity in many respects.....
 
Át the end of the day scotland will still get more regional powers, but I do not know how long the English are still going to allow the Scottish to influence their politics disproportionately. This vote has actually given Westminster the mandate to ignore the Scottish please.

At least the opposition to them is still in existence. Labour must be relieved. I bet this is making the English Labour work much closer with their Scottish counterparts.
