Screamer ADSL

Got my cancellation confirmed today and the refund.

Until ALL issues are sorted out, i am not interested.

Tech support magically appears when things are right, when they wrong, NO ONE is here for us.

Bye screamer...

EDIT : Muprhy's law, the day i cancel, torrents are flying and everything is back to normal...

the stress of having a non functioning ISP... :/

Let's see if it's just temporary or if it stays like this the entire night.

Was going to mention this actually. It was like dead most of the times but tonight seems fine. I'm getting 42kbs on a single peer in torrents. Browsing feels like it should. I have canceled though cause when it goes boom it takes for ever to get fixed and no response

Upload speeds are poor though.

Ohh and another question. Seems that My IP Never changed since the new public ip's came into effect. Does screamer give static ip's with packages now?

Agreed, my IP hasn't changed at all...

I read they give static ip's for R35 extra a month. Which means that the packages is dynamic ip's

But I think they don't have enough people for the ip's to actually change. I think the range of ip's is bigger than the amount of users connecting at the same time. Coul explain why the ip's aren't changing.

so er okes listen now,

utorrent slows thing down to a crawl

bitcomet, is FLYING with torrents... wtf?

my connection is absolutely humming speed wise all of a sudden.

do all the users that experience slow speeds have utorrent open or summin? just a thought...

gonna drop uTorrent for now and try vuze again (actually very nice torrent app)

weird issue the uTorrent speed ?!?!?!

I feel like an idiot for not trying this earlier. the speed is absolutely flying. downloading torrents @ 40kb+, browsing, receiving a 10mb email and posting all at the same time!!!!

Not to sure if Screamer is just teasing me because i told them to cancel or if it's actually working fine now.

what torrent app are you using? I tried using Vuze over the weekend but the speeds were quite slow. might give it a go later on...

Adrenalin, I'm still waiting for Tel$kum to activate the dsl service on my line and then i will report back on speeds and what what... using utorrent as well so might have to think up a different torrent client if the torrent issue persists...

All hail king Adrenalin for finding the problem. Screamer should give me free internet access for life.

Screamer is finally Screaming

Please don't change anything guys!!!!

My HTTP browsing and downloads are full speed although you are definitely shaping my torrents which are at half speed.

It works so nicely now. I can actually browse. Upload speed is a bit low.

Ive notice problems with streaming though. I try streaming 128k winamp radio stream and after 30 seconds it starts to buffer the whole time. Not sure why cause even the streams on port 80 buffers the whole time.

It's amazing that it took more than 80 pages of SCREAMING before someone from Screamer responded... but why so silent NED?

IRG don't steal another man's thunder. I'm poor. I deserve free access for life.

Sorry Bro... seems when I mentioned it, nobody really took note. I give you Cudo's for backing me up on the issue and agreeing that it was so!. The guys at screamer reckon they still working on the uTorrent speeds. I never would have guessed that one torrent app could make everything go so farked up! Personally I dont care much, just had a few things lined up in uTorrent... Vuze works fine anyways, so I'll just change back to that (used to use vuze exclusively when I was on iBurst).

Right now I dont bother much with torrents anyway...I use Mipony (auto downloader for shared hosting sites). Its awsome! Plus I have a Premium hotfile account which helps!

Hi
I am from Screamer. Trying to make it better and understand the problems better.
BTW. I am not from Screamer Management but from tech Dept.
Just trying to make the DSL better.
I speak to lots of customers on a daily basis and most of them are happy.
But clearly some on this list isn't, thus my joining.

In my experience, if a customer is happy with your service, they won't feel the need to phone you to speak to you (someone in the tech department). So obviously you're lying by saying that most of them are happy... because why else would they phone in to talk to a techie?

You're not a quality assurance manager, so you won't be phoning people at random to hear how the service is for them.... and by this forum thread alone, you should have noticed people are unhappy with what you're providing. So which is it?

Are clients happy and you're the QA manager phoning them to make sure they are happy?
Or are you the technician who handles support calls and speak to unhappy clients daily (who might not sound unhappy after the phone call ends because it's easy giving false promises and someone going "thank you for listening I'm sure it's going to be fixed as you said!")

IRG. Spot on dude :P i'm definately going to check that program out. As for utorrent causing all the crap, i would've also never guessed it. Still can't figure out how it does that.

I am seeing the same. It doesn't kill just connections on the same machine, but also on other machines sharing the connection. The only explanation I can come up with is that there is a difference in how uTorrent and Vuse opens incoming/outgoing connections. Perhaps uTorrent spawns too many of them, causing an issue when Screamer manages the connections for a specific client. I am tempted to post on the uTorrent forums, but I don't have enough information as of yet.
